A Ship Full Of Lamborghinis And Porsches Sank Into The Atlantic Without A Single Car Being Saved

A $400 million fleet vanished beneath the waves.
In 2022, the cargo ship Felicity Ace caught fire in the Atlantic Ocean while en route from Germany to the United States. But this wasn’t any ordinary cargo. Inside were nearly 4,000 luxury vehicles, from rare Lamborghinis and Bentleys to custom-built Porsches.

The fire raged uncontrollably for days. Rescue crews saved the crew, but not the cargo. Eventually, the ship tilted, took on water, and disappeared into the deep. No car was ever recovered.

Among the sunken treasures was a one-of-a-kind Porsche destined for a U.S. customer — lost forever. The estimated value of the cars on board exceeded $400 million, making it one of the most expensive maritime losses in automotive history.

Experts still debate what caused the fire, some suspect lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles may have triggered the blaze. Whatever the cause, it left behind a ghost story of horsepower, luxury, and loss — buried thousands of meters below the sea.
