Somewhere along the way, a lot of women started believing they had to be superheroes 🦇

Work harder. Sleep less. Look amazing. Take care of everyone else. Keep pushing no matter what.

But the science tells us something different.

Your body isn't a machine. It's constantly responding to stress, recovery, nutrition, sleep and movement 🧬

When those things are neglected for long enough, hormones, energy, mood and even body composition can start to suffer.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned from years of coaching women is that getting healthier isn't always about doing more.

Sometimes it's about recovering better. Building more muscle. Walking more. Managing stress. Getting enough protein.

The women who thrive long term usually aren't the ones trying to be superheroes.

They're the ones looking after the human behind the cape 💪🖤

Muscle isn’t just about looking fit - it’s your long-term strength, your metabolism, your bones, your independence

As women, we want to stay powerful as we age. Able, capable, resilient

The goal isn’t smaller - it’s stronger

Back on UK Health Radio for a second interview - this time talking about something much more raw and personal 🙏 (Link below)

A couple of weeks ago during Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, I sat down with Jenni Russell and opened up about my pregnancy, emergency C-section, postpartum recovery, battle with postnatal depression, and the parts of motherhood people don’t always talk about openly.

This was probably the most raw and honest interview I’ve done. We talk about the mental side of becoming a mum, feeling like you lose yourself a bit, navigating recovery, and the signs that made me realise something wasn’t right mentally after having my daughter.

You can listen here: 👉 https://bit.ly/4ty9Nhy 🎙️

Or search “Kat Kova” on the UK Health Radio website where both of my interviews are now up 💛

I’ve also added the link to my AllMyLinks in my bio for anyone who wants to listen later.

NMN is one of the supplements I’ve been researching more deeply lately, especially when it comes to female longevity, energy, recovery and ageing well 🤍

One thing a lot of women don’t realise is that NAD+ levels naturally decline as we age, particularly after our 30s. That matters because NAD+ is involved in cellular energy, mitochondrial function, DNA repair and recovery

This is why so many women start noticing:
• lower energy
• slower recovery
• more brain fog
• reduced resilience to stress
• feeling “run down” more easily

Especially postpartum, during hormonal shifts, or when juggling high stress and poor sleep.

NMN isn’t magic, and it’s definitely not a replacement for basics like sleep, muscle-building, nutrition and stress management but it’s one of the more interesting longevity supplements being studied right now when it comes to healthy ageing and cellular support ✨

I’ve personally been looking more into NMN, mitochondrial health and the science of ageing because I think women deserve more conversations around feeling strong, capable and energised as we get older - not just “anti-ageing”.

A lot of you also ask me about trusted supplement brands, so the NMN I’ve looked into is from DoNotAge.org.

One thing the fitness industry doesn’t talk about enough? You can look incredibly fit on the outside and still struggle with your health on the inside 👇

That’s something I’ve become more and more aware of over the years through coaching women, studying, and working in the fitness industry

Aesthetics matter to a lot of people, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good. But real health goes far deeper than body fat levels or a flat stomach 🧬

Hormones
Muscle mass
Bone health
Energy
Stress
Metabolic health

Those are the things that really shape how we age, function and feel over time

Ironically, when you genuinely take care of your health on the inside, it often does reflect on the outside too 💪
These days I’m far more interested in helping women become stronger, healthier and more resilient long term… because what’s happening inside your body matters so much more than aesthetics alone 🖤

Becoming a mum was the most important thing I’ve ever done, but it also brought me to one of the lowest places I’ve ever been.

Postnatal depression isn’t just “feeling a bit down”.

It can feel like losing yourself while still having to show up every single day.

And the part that’s hardest?

So many women are going through it quietly.

As someone who works in health and fitness, I used to think in terms of routines, structure, discipline but this taught me that sometimes the win is much smaller than that.

Getting outside.
Moving your body a little.
Eating something nourishing.
Asking for help.

Not perfectly. Just at all.

If you’re in that place right now, I see you.

You’re not weak, and you’re not alone even if it feels like you are.

And if you’re not experiencing this yourself, but you know someone who might be, please check in on them. It matters more than you think.

If you're a new mum who is struggling and you're UK based, please reach out to Perinatal Mental Health 🙏

Featured on UK Health Radio, a platform reaching over 1.6 million listeners, sharing my perspective on women’s health, aging and aesthetics 🎙️

We spoke about how the conversation is shifting - more women are starting to care about how they’re aging on the inside, not just what they see on the outside, and how that’s changing the way we approach health, fitness and longevity 🧬

I also shared what I’ve learned from years of coaching women, and what actually makes a difference long-term:

✨ Aging Well
💪 Building and Maintaining Muscle
🧬 Supporting Longevity
🌿 Using Supplements with intention

It’s a more considered way of looking at health and one that supports both how you feel and how you look over time. Thank you for the great conversation!

I’ll also be back on next week talking about something much more personal - motherhood, pregnancy, the postnatal experience, and the side of it that often isn’t spoken about, including postnatal depression 🙏

We tend to focus on 'looking fit' but muscle is doing so much more behind the scenes than just shaping how we look.

When muscle starts to drop off, it’s not just about aesthetics - it quietly affects energy, strength, how we move through the day, and even how quickly we feel ourselves aging.

On the flip side, maintaining muscle changes everything. It’s what keeps you feeling capable in your body, not just 'in shape'

Muscle isn’t just for the gym. It’s a long-term investment in how you age, feel, and function 💪
