Let's be real - nobody buys swimwear to save the planet.
You buy it because it looks good. Because it feels good. Because it works.
So that's what we built first. OceanKnitโข Fabric - buttery soft, quick-dry, minimalist design in colorways that go with anything. The kind of shorts you wear all day without thinking about it.
And then - because the material they're made from is recovered ocean plastic - 7 bottles come out of the sea and a seaweed plant goes in.
You don't have to choose. We already did. ๐
Blauw Shorts
Swimwear brand: making swim shorts out of 100% ocean recycled plastic
"Recycled" doesn't mean much anymore.
Every brand uses it. Almost none of them mean the same thing.
When I built Blauw I wanted to be able to look someone in the eye and explain every single part of what they're wearing. No vague claims, no fine print.
Actual ocean plastic. 100% of the fabric. Certified. Traceable. Real.
Plus seaweed planted with every order - because why not?
That's the whole thing. ๐
"Made from fishing nets" sounds scratchy. We get it.
But that's exactly the assumption we built Blauw to break.
Through SEAQUALยฎ, those recovered nets aren't just cleaned and stitched together - they're broken down completely and spun into a new yarn. The result is ultra quick-dry, buttery soft fabric that performs like anything made from virgin material.
These last for seasons. That's the whole point - buy less, buy better, and let the ocean keep what's left. ๐
Would you have guessed this was made from fishing nets? ๐
Most brands plant trees. We plant seaweed.
20x faster COโ absorption. No land needed. Rebuilds marine ecosystems.
We're ocean-first. It had to make sense for the ocean.
Every Blauw short. One seaweed plant. Through . ๐
JFK said it in 1962. Nothing has changed.
We are tied to the ocean. Every breath, every meal, every rainstorm - it starts here.
We don't go to the ocean to escape. We go back because some part of us never really left.
Protect what you come from. ๐
What started as a simple frustration - plastic on every shoreline, shorts that fell apart after one summer, brands that said "eco" and meant nothing - turned into something real.
Blauw is still small. Still figuring it out. But every short that goes out the door pulls 7 bottles from the ocean and plants seaweed in its place.
What's the best decision you ever made that surprised you? ๐

The ocean isn't just beautiful, itโs essential for us.
It gives us the air we breathe, regulates our climate, and feeds billions of people.
And we're filling it with plastic.
At Blauw, we're doing something small but meaningful. Weโre turning ocean plastic into swim shorts and planting one seaweed for every pair sold.
Because the ocean doesn't need our trash. It needs our help. ๐
Nobody tells you what starting a brand actually looks like.
It looks like late nights questioning everything. Manufacturers saying no. Samples that weren't right. Money going out before a single order comes in...
And then one day - the shorts are real. Exactly what you pictured.
That moment makes all of it worth it. ๐
What's something you've built that took longer than expected? ๐
Science can explain a lot of things. It can't explain why standing at the edge of the ocean just fixes you.
Some things you don't question... you just go ๐
Where's your ocean right now? ๐

If the ocean feels like home, this list is for you.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for something you love is understand it better. These documentaries changed the way we see the ocean, and we think they'll do the same for you.
Save this for your next movie night. ๐
There's a version of a perfect morning that doesn't need much. Just the right place, the right people, and shorts you don't have to think twice about.
Comfortable enough to swim in. Clean enough to sit down somewhere nice after.
That's the whole brief, honestly.
