We are reaching out to ask for support for a longtime friend of our club. Over the years, James has been a great friend and supporter of the club, including sending many of his students to our tournaments and camps.
As a coach of a nearby school right around the corner from us (PS 41), he has truly been a wonderful neighbor and friend.
Many of us have also sent our own kids to PS 41 tournaments and camps over the years.

If you are able, please consider making a donation to help support him during this time. Any amount is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

What a week in chess! The Marshall Chess Club would like to extend our warmest congratulations to GM-elect Liam Putnam for achieving his final GM norm (+title!) and IM Tanitoluwa Adewumi for achieving his first GM norm last week at the 2026 Saint Louis Masters, as well as FM Megan Paragua for winning the NYS High School Championships. Many of us at the club have watched them grow both on and off the board over the years, and we can’t wait to see what they will accomplish next.
