Yesterday, before teaching a student, I was reading the tribute panels in Ovation Hall at OPERA America’s National Opera Center. I was fondly remembering one of my most special voice teachers and mentors, Phyllis Curtin, and was wondering if she had a panel when it appeared! I was so touched and delighted to see her longtime friend and collaborator, the recently passed, Carlisle Floyd, was who honored her. Phyllis would share such warm stories of Carlisle Floyd and their work on Susannah together in lessons when I would get the courage to bring in the arias written for her. After one of the last work sessions I had with Phyllis on the Susannah arias she said, “She belongs to you now.” I only knew Carlisle Floyd through Phyllis and I was in his presence maybe once or twice. That being said, I have been deeply moved on many occasions by the entire opera of Susannah and I’ve barely gotten through Ain’t It A Pretty Night in several concerts as the swell of emotion from the beauty of Carlisle Floyd’s writing almost brought me to emotional ends. Thank you, Carlisle Floyd, for your contributions. Thank you, Phyllis, for sharing your stories and Susannah with me.

Hello! I just have one more new offering to share with you all. I created this group to reach people looking to dip their toes in Positive Psychology but who might not up for the the commitment required for the Positive Psychology Life Coaching Group.

ARTISTS FOCUSED Positive Psychology Life Skills Group
This group will meet via zoom once a week for 45-50 minutes at 8:00pm EST on Mondays starting October 11. A different topic in Positive Psychology will be covered every week along with group exercises. This group will meet for four weeks and the cost is only $100 for all four sessions.

All are welcome espcially Musicians, Actors, Dancers, Visual Artists, Writers, Singers, and anyone who works creatively!
No limit on participants..

Sitting outside listening to this incredible piece tonight on the twentieth anniversary was moving and breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you for broadcasting out into the plaza. Incredible performances given by all!

Up until this past year, my body always rejected running/jogging. I’d get some weird pull or injury that made it unsustainable. Since working predominantly from home for the past year and a half, I haven’t abused my body by carrying bags all over the city or wearing myself out from the basic stress of the hustle. When I saw my neighbor, , running around our open streets last summer, I decided to give it another try and I am so glad I did. After some adjustments and slowly building myself up, I can comfortably run several times a week and today I proudly ran my first little race! Thank you pilates for helping me be strong enough and have enough body awareness to push myself in this way. I am not the fastest but I held my own and listened to my body and ran my fastest mile yet at 10.56. Clearly not breaking any records but my own and that makes me very happy! Thank you to for all their hard work in making this morning a wonderfully positive Queens neighborhood event! Thank you and Michael for a super fun time!
