Forearm stand (Pincha Mayurasana) is a challenging inversion that builds core stability, shoulder strength, and balance.

Yoga inversions are poses where your head is lower than your heart and offer powerful physical and mental benefits. They reverse the effects of gravity, shift your perspective, and challenge your body's systems in beneficial ways.

To practice safely use a wall.
Arm Placement: Place your elbows shoulder-width apart. You can measure this by grabbing opposite elbows, then placing your forearms on the mat with palms flat.

The Base: Press down evenly through your forearms. Keep your shoulders stacked over your elbows.

Gaze: Look down between the forearms to maintain a neutral neck.

Start In Dolphin Pose: Forearms on the floor shoulder width apart, hands clasped or unclasped a few inches from the wall. Walk your feet in toward your elbows.

Kick-Up: Lift one leg high into the air. Use a gentle hop with the bottom leg to bring both feet to rest against the wall.

Stay Active: Press forearms down to elongate from arms to toes . Squeeze inner thighs and knit ribs together to avoid over arching in the spine.

Keep Shoulders Back and Down: Externally rotate your shoulders and gently squeeze your shoulder blades together.

Avoid collapsing: If you feel yourself sinking into your neck, press down harder into your elbows, flex your feet and reach them up to the ceiling.

Warm-up:
Forearm Plank - Builds the core and shoulder stability.
Dolphin to Planks - From dolphin pose, walk your legs out to forearm plank, and back in again, strengthening the triceps and scapula.

Health Benefits:
Boosts Circulation
Improves Lymphatic System
Activates Deep Stabilizing Muscles
Strengthens Upper Body and Back
Decompresses the Spine

Mental and Brain Benefits

“Cold Monday Morning Stretch” before deepening the Asanas 🧘🏽🙏🏼💙🥶

When the mercury drops it threatens your body‘s core temperature which function is best at 98.6°F. To stay warm. Your body will send more blood towards your core but the muscles in your legs and arms get less blood flow and less oxygen than in warmer temperatures. With less oxygen circulating through the blood the muscles can be stiff, don’t move around as freely, and fatigue more easily.

Static stretching keeps muscles long and flexible after a short warm-up. This will fight stiffness, increase range-of-motion, improve posture, balance, and agility. 🙌🏼
