Wanting to create a tangible social legacy for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, FIFA launched the campaign of ’20 Centres for 2010’ in 2007. Its aim was to create 20 Football for Hope Centres across Africa. The 14th Centre to open was the one in Iringa, located in the Tanzanian highlands, approximately 300 miles from Dar es Salaam, successfully addressing local social challenges that young people face in disadvantaged areas by helping to improve education and public health services.
