Well said Ryan!

New Haven Uechi Ryu 2015 Koshukai was Incredible! New Haven Connecticut's Jiteki Jyuku Uechi Ryu Karate event was incredible. Nine high ranking Uechi Ryu Karate Masters was teaching and participating.

This weekend I went to our NAJA headquarters in Florida for my Roku Dan Renshi test. The spring seminal is a yearly event where students come to train, the leadership meets to discuss Association business, and tests are run. It's a fantastic event - 4 days of great karate hosted this year by Ryan Dean's dojo.

Today I managed to reconnect with my first karate teacher - who I lost touch with sometime in the 90s before there was much of an internet. His teacher, Bobby Boyd, now has a website, and when I asked after Tommy, Bobby was able to say Tommy is one of his oldest and favorite students - and still practicing after 40 years. Great news...

Good class on Monday night where we worked on a number of blocking techniques and some eye strike ideas.

Had an interesting talk with my teacher on Monday and wanted to share a thought - ku kumite is about learning to maintain distance (among many other things), dan kumite is about jamming up your opponent's attacks (among many other things). It's not entirely that simple - but maybe it is.

Changing class schedule from Thursday night to Wednesday night at 8:30 starting this week! Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Planning for a promotion test the weekend of October 2nd in New York!

Had an excellent seminar with Sensei Frank Gorman in Connecticut at Bruce Tulgen's dojo! Wonderful workout and great chance to connect with others from the association in the Northeast.
