Ideas for improving when :

Strengthen grasp
Increase tone with vestibular input prior to writing
Pencil grip
Smaller pencil that forces tripod
Cut two holes in a sock for thumb and index finger
Slant board to decrease laxity of tendons
Check retained reflexes like palmar grasp reflex.
