It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the unexpected loss of Robert Troch, founder of Younger Than Last Year (YTLY), on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Robert was dedicated to empowering people in their fitness journeys, and promoting overall health and wellness. Over the past eight years, he taught individuals and groups through YTLY’s in-person studio classes and online sessions, offering guidance and simple tools for lifestyle changes. This was not just his work but his life’s purpose, fueled by his love and passion for helping others and building community.
Robert touched the lives of so many people. During this difficult time, let’s celebrate his legacy by carrying forward the countless lessons he taught and the many ways he inspired us all. We’re planning a final birthday challenge on his 65th birthday in March 2025, and hope that members of the YTLY community will join in the challenge. More information to come.
Robert was a rare and special person. We will miss his humor, joy, brilliance, compassion, playfulness, curiosity and sense of adventure.
On behalf of his wife, Grace, daughter, Georgia, and family, we express our gratitude to all of the members of the YTLY community. Thank you for taking part in Robert’s vision!

Birthday challenge this morning. A circuit with 10 groups. Each group dine like this. 45 sec exercise 1, then 15 sec rest. 45 sec exercise 2, then 15 sec rest. 45 sec exercise 3 then directly followed by 60 seconds of jump rope at about 70% effort, then 15 sec rest followed by exercise 1 in the next group in the same pattern. Not counting the jump rope the circuit is a little over 40 minutes. At the end of the circuit we took 60 seconds rest then did the bonus circuits. 1x upper body circuit (4 exercises) with no rest periods followed by 90 sec rest then 1x lower body circuit (4 exercises) and that was it. Upper body circuit was rotational push up x 10, Dumbell curl and press x 10, Dumbell bench press x 10 and Dumbell Rhomboid exercise x 10. Leg circuit was split jump x 10, squat jump x 10, Reverse lunge x 20 and squat x 20. Whew!

Whether you are at home or on the road you can still send some blood to your muscles and oil up your joints. Using some lighter bands here to work the shoulders. Feels great!

Robert demonstrates how to do infinity circles that helps to strengthen flexibility and balance. This is an exercise that can be done daily and you can start small and slow and things increase based on your level.
