HIGHLIGHT
āMy heart has heard you say, āCome and talk with me.ā And my heart responds, āLord, I am coming.ā
The word ācomingā is what stands out. Why? Becauseā¦ sometimes we never arrive or we arrive but donāt stay put.
Tribal Declaration
Today, and every day after, I will arrive and stay put in Godās presence and talk with Him.

āI was thrust into your arms at my birth. You have been my God from the moment I was born.ā
Thereās an idea that David was an illegitimate child and was rejected. This verse makes me think of that. Instead of highlighting the rejection of his family, he chose words that displays Godās role in his life. How many of us has truly been able to redirect our thinking in such a a way like this? Instead of thinking about how people did us wrong, do we think about how God has drawn us closer to Him?
Tribal Declaration
Being God-focused is my go to in the midst of every situation.

Reading Psalm scriptures really puts me in Davidās soul relationship with God. I could see the total dependence on God with praise, pressure, joy, and disappointment. Multiple emotions are expressed through each Psalm and God heard and understood them all.
Tribal Declaration
I can and will share every emotion and moment with God, He hears and cares!

DAVID SET SOLOMON UP FOR SUCCESS!
Because David was so eager about the house of God being built, he made sure he provided the supplies so it can be successfully done. He knew that he couldnāt build it, but he set things up for his son, Solomon, to build it. He prepared materials and supplies for something he wouldnāt see in his lifetime. He prepared materials and supplies for a future generation to build and benefit from the house of the Lord. This made me ask myself what am I preparing? What resources and materials am I stocking up for a future generation to partake in that I wonāt seeā¦
Tribal Declaration
I will not only prepare and provide for my own life, but I will also do so for generations to come.

āā¦learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately.ā
This was Davidās instruction to his son Solomon in the transition of role as King. He didnāt tell him to rule and have good judgement. He told him to KNOW GOD INTIMATELY! a lot of us donāt take time to know God intimately. For some itās too boring, for others theyāre too busy, and then thereās those who are just not ready to ābe that deepā. But see, thereās a benefit that comes with this instruction. God had told David that if Solomon would obey Him he would āā¦make his kingdom last forever.ā So thereās longevity that comes with an intimate relationship with God. If we are honest with ourselves, some of us have a limited understanding of intimacy so we donāt know how to truly be intimate with God. All we know if what weāve experienced.
Tribal Declaration
Lord, teach me how to know you intimately.

This reading was all about assigned duties!
What are you assigned to do in the house of the Lord? Iām not talking about what your leader told you to do, nor am I talking about your title. But what has God assigned you to do? What sense of responsibility do you have in the house of the Lord? Do you feel like itās your duty to praise God? Do you feel like itās your responsibility to worship God every time you enter the house of God? Yes, itās everyoneās responsibility, but have you personally taken on the responsibility and duty?
Tribal Declaration
I will bless the lord at all times & His praise shall continually be in my mouth!

āBut the king replied to Araunah, āNo, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me nothing.ā
David did not want to offer anything to God that did not cost somethingā¦ he didnāt want to bring something of no value to him to God!
Yes, āJesus paid it allā¦ā but are you willing to pay a price so that the worship, praise, prayer, etc. you offer up can be of value? We go through things to make our offerings valuable. When we go through trouble, pain, and turmoil, what we offer God is not cheap.
Tribal Declaration
I will continue to pay the price so I can offer up valuable sacrifices of praise, worship, and more!

āThe Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.ā
In this life we have learned how to protect ourselves from a lot of things. itās to the point where we indirectly tell God, āDonāt worry, I got this.ā I have learned that we are not supposed to be our own protection. When we are, we take Godās role and end up messing up things. God is our defense! God is our protection! He knows best!
Tribal Declaration:
I hand over the role of protection back to you God!

āFor my sake, deal gently with young Absalom.ā
Again, here is David choosing kindness towards someone coming against him. He didnāt try to āteach his son a lessonā, he told them to be gentle with him. I wana continue the thought from April 28th... letās drop the fact that Absalom is Davidās son. Maybe David had believed that God has chosen to use his son to overthrow his kingdom. What if he was ātreading lightlyā being sure to not ātouch Godās anointedā like he didnāt kill Saul.
Later Absalom is killed and David mourns over his death. I think thatās loving humility at its finest!
Tribal Declaration
Loving humility is better than satisfying revenge!

Absalom, Absalom, Absalomā¦. Oooh Absalom. š¤¦š¾āāļø
Here we see the rise of Absalom against his father King David. What baffles me though is that David ran. After some thinking I was reminded of the prophecy given by Nathan. Part of the prophecy was, āI will cause your own household to rebel against you. I will give your wives to another man before your very eyes, and he will go to bed with them in public view.ā
PROPHECY FULFILLED!
I believe David ran not because he was afraid of his son, but because of the prophecy! I believe he ran because he thought that God had probably given over the kingdom to him because of his sin. He may have thought that God would have allowed Absalom to overthrow & kill him. Maybe David understood that it was happening because of the prophecy so instead of going to war, he humbly fled knowing God was behind it.
Itās amaxing how prophecy plays out with little to no detail given in the prophecy! Trust and believe, true prophecy will come to pass!
Tribal Declaration
I believe the word of the Lord! The prophecy I have received will come to pass.

They fighting again (šš®āšØ lol) but whatās interesting this time is that Joab sent messengers to tell David, āā¦Now bring the rest of the army and capture the city. Otherwise, I will capture it and get the credit for the victory.āļæ¼
Joab humbled himself so He wouldnāt get the credit for a victory that he knew he could achieve. However he knew how that would make David look. Are you able to not only take the back seat, but advise someone else so they can not only get victory but credit for it as well? š¤ Can you make your nasty boss, annoying supervisor, ājealousā coworker look victorious and get credit for your advice, or hard work?
What would be your Tribal Decalaration for this?

YOU MAY HIDE IT FROM THE PEOPLE, BUT YOU CANT HIDE IT FROM GOD! Man, David had a problem with his eyes and it caused Him to sin terribly. The Prophet Nathan was used to bring this awareness to David and to let Him know what God will allow as a result. Later on we read that his son died like God said and David stopped mourning rather quickly and it shocked the people. He knew what he did and knew that his mourning hadnāt changed Godās mind.
God sees us & our mess and Jesus covers us and all that good stuff, however weāre not exempt from having to face the consequences of our bad decisions. At some point we need to be like David and cease mourning over things that we know we brought upon ourselves.
Tribal Declaration
I will not use āmourningā to try to manipulate God into withholding consequences from me. I will be mature and own up to my sin.

āOne day, David asked, āIs anyone in Saulās family still alive-anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan sake?ā¦ (to Mephibosheth)ļæ¼ā¦ donāt be afraid!ā¦ I intend to show kindness to you, because of my promise to your father Jonathan.ā
Davidās heart, honor, and loyalty to Saul/Jonathan is such an amazing example for us today! In spite of what He faced, He kept his promise and still had the heart to be a blessing.
I remember thinking about how much trauma David must have faced over His life span and yet he was the way he was, a man after Godās heart. To still desire to show favor to a family of a man that wanted to kill himā¦ š®āšØ
Tribal Declaration
I aim to show kindness and favor at all times!
