ハドソン川を望む公園で、ソーシャル・ディスタンスを保ちながらの稽古。 COVID-19の世界的な感染拡大で、ニューヨーク道場は今年３月からずっと活動を休止してきました。 他の米国の都市に比べて多くの感染者・犠牲者が出たニューヨークでは、当局の指導でスポーツジム等は現在も閉鎖されており、今後いつ稽古が再開できるかは全く見通すことができません。 そんな中ですが、夏の暑さも少し和らいだので、希望者に集まってもらって、マンハッタンの公園で稽古を行いました。 久しぶりの稽古のためか、あるいはマスク着用のせいか、基本の稽古だけでけっこう堪えた様子でしたが、みんな頑張って最後までやり通しました。 二部稽古も開催しましたが、レストランでの飲食ができないため、ビールとつまみをテイクアウトして、これもまた公園で・・・。土曜日の昼間ということもあり多くの人通りを横目にビールは少し気が引けました。 早く日常に戻れることを期待しながら、また近々野外での稽古を企画したいと思います。

新極真会の世界的な大会で長年活躍しているカザフスタンの選手&先生が訪ねてきてくれました。 折角の機会なので、彼の卓越した組手技術を伝授してもらう事にしました。 自身で細かく研究を重ねてきた事がうかがえる、微に入り細に入った説明が言葉の壁を超えて伝わりました。 こちらが悪い例。 こちらが良い後ろ蹴り。違いは明白ですね。 お馴染みのルーフトップで開催された二部稽古でも空手の質問に答えてくれました。特に基本稽古の重要性について熱く語ってくれたのが印象深いです。
