North American Senior A Pro Hockey Tournament

Tournament Official Announcement - PSA To All Senior A/Semi Pro/International Heritage Teams across the United States, South America, and Canada, etc! Rules are being updated and subject to change to for the foreseeable future. Powered by Serpenotics Hockey Wax!

The tournament will be open to all competitive teams in the various leagues & international teams across the US, South America and Canada as well as international teams. There will be a team organization entry fee, TBD, at a later date, along with the location of the games being hosted around the New York/New Jersey area, planned for June 2026. 8 teams minimum will be required to kick off the tournament with a max of 16 teams to cap the number of games. 3 game minimum round robin before playoff games, which will be broken down by wins/losses and goal differential in the event of a tie. For full transparency, the fees collected for the tournament will go to covering all ice costs, the officiating, trophy as well as the medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.

The play style remains the same, full contact 18+ for 3 periods at 20 mins each period and NHL regulations featuring 2 linesman and 2 officials as full contact games. The games will be streamed online for home town viewing as well available to the public for an entry fee via tickets at door or online. Team staff and players will receive passes for the tournament. The public will be available to purchase event passes at the tournament or online. A sports photography company will be brought in as well for the action. We are looking into the possibility of doing mic'd up players.

The NASPHT is still in the early stages, but hopefully will happen this spring/summer! We want to make this tournament a national event! Potential leagues we plan to reach out to for the tournament as followed:
1) Mountain Hockey League.
2) Ontario Super Hockey League - former WOSHL/COSHL
3) PowerPlay Senior Hockey League
4) Great Lakes Hockey League
5) Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League
6) Michigan Independence Hockey League
7) American Primier Hockey League
And so on. The first tournament in 2025 will be 8 teams to start. Invites will be extended to the first place teams that win in every league with at least 1 hosting team regardless of their place, but for the first tournament, being hosted will be a team of free agents for Serpenotics Hockey as the host and potential invites to 2nd place team if first place declines invite. We are in the planning stages for the ultimate Senior A Minor Pro Tourney in North America. Rulings will be based on the NHL gameplay. Rules are as followed:
1) The hosting organization will be only team allowed to participate in the tournament regardless of their standing in their own league. The hosting organization is also responsible for ice costs, staff coverage for events, refs, sponsorships, etc.... Further Details - TBD at a later date. Spring/Summer 2025 will be hosted by Serpenotics Hockey in NY/NJ area with no team entering currently. (Vegas, NV was mentioned for another year, as well as Quinnopiac NY, Western PA, Chicago, IL, and so on). It is highly recommended using an arena with seating to help cover the cost of the national tournament if not getting sponsored.

2) First place teams will be invited from various amatuer leagues around North America. The team/organization will have 3 days after winning their league championship to accept the invite once announced. If the team opts out of joining the tournament for whatever reason, the invite will be extended to the second place team in their place. This will be an at minimum 8 team tournament. Every team should be aware that this tournament could be as long as a week. Hotels should be within reasonable distance of the event.

3) The rosters are being set for 22 Players and 3 goalies per team, being 25 total in case of injury or suspensions during the tournament. Rosters must match final championship game roster. 20 will be allowed to dress for games.

4) There will be 2 Officials and 2 Linesmen per game. Official abuse will not be tolerated from any of the players, coaching staff and public attendees.

5) Format for the tournament will follow Double Elmination for 8 to 12 teams. If there is more than 12 teams, the tournament will be Single Elmination. The team that wins it all receives a big trophy as well as bragging rights to say they are number 1 in the North America! 2nd and 3rd place will receive trophies as well. We will be aiming for Spring/Summer of 2025 for the first one ever. More Rules to follow.

6) NASPHT Staff must be present at the tournament.

This is after promising a different better league. Exhibition games can be set up with teams across the USA if we want to play as an independent organization if we do not join a league. The NASPTH will also not recognize any league/team ownership that doesn't have full transparency with their players and fans. 🏒🏒🏒

The first ever North American Senior A Pro Hockey Tournament will be coming soon! We basically are going to take the 1st & 2nd Place Teams from around the Senior A Minor Pro teams from the North American Region. Our plans will include the Union Hockey League, the Michigan Independent Hockey League, Mountain Hockey League, along with the Great Lakes Hockey League. Possibly some teams from Canadian Senior A Pro leagues. Stay tuned for more!
