CLUB STATEMENT

It is with great sadness I have to announce that Newport Fury will not be competing in the 2022/23 basketball season. We will be withdrawing from the South Wales Basketball League and the Cardiff Basketball League with immediate effect.

Unfortunately lack of commitment and low numbers has forced this decision upon me.

I’d like to thank everyone that’s passed though, helped out and pulled on a Fury jersey over the last 5 seasons, it’s been a rollercoaster for sure.

I’d also like to thank all the teams and players we’ve competed with over the last few years.

I’ll return next year to see if there’s possibility of starting up again.

That’s the season finished for Newport Fury.

Finishing a respectful 6th place in the South Wales Basketball Division 1, with some good wins vs the teams above us there’s lots of positives to take from this year.

Injury & covid has hampered our performance all year, resulting in us missing key players towards the end of the season.

In the Cardiff Basketball League we went through the season undefeated, finishing top on the league, only to compete in the finals today and lose both of our games, unfortunately finishing 4th. Again with key players missing it was always going to be tough.

Congratulations to the young guns at Cardiff City for showing great hussle and determination to win the finals 👏🏻

Time for a rest now and regroup before the summer runs 🏀

The first end of season playoff tournament will take place at Cardiff City House of Sport starting at 10.30am, a whole day of game!
