Introducing 3MD
3MD is one of the largest clubs in Flanders. What started as a group of friends going for a swim together has grown into a full-fledged club with approximately 200 members since 2015.
3MD is like one big happy sporty family where both recreational and competitive athletes feel welcome and appreciated.
Our goal is to offer opportunities for every member both in triathlon and duathlon.
About 5 years ago, we also launched our own youth program, already counting over 30 youngsters now.
We want to put triathlon/duathlon in the picture and make it a more popular sport in our region.
Hence, we work together with the local schools because we want to motivate sporty people and make it easier to become a member.
Within our club we have athletes who focus on the short distance as well as athletes who focus on the long distance.
We participate in the Belgian T3 Series competition as well as in the international IRONMAN races.
Our best-known members are Bart Aernouts (2nd in Hawaii 2018) and Katrien Verstuyft (2 times Olympic Games).
Furthermore, we have athletes who are Belgian and International sprint distance champions inspiring new members to do their very first short distance triathlon.
In 2017, about 20 3MD athletes participated in 70.3 and 140.6 IM Vichy.
Thatโs when we got the idea to make it a yearly tradition to participate in an international race with as many athletes as possible.
And so, the year after, our club participated in IM 70.3 Luxembourg in 2018, in IM 70.3 Kraichgau in 2019 and again in IM 70.3 Luxembourg in 2022.
Finally, a fun fact: during the next edition in Hawaii no less than 7 members of our TriClub will race in Kona.
Definitly a candiate for TriClub Competition there! ๐

Introducing TriLatino Triathlon Club
TriLatino Triathlon Club is a not-for-profit triathlon club in New York City whose mission is to promote inclusivity in the sport by making it more attainable for Latinos and other minority groups. 75% of the clubโs athletes have direct heritage or a connection to Puerto Rico, which put 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico at the top of their race list. Competing on the island symbolized the solidarity they have with the local triathlon community and the support it lends as the island continues to rebuild from the impacts of Hurricane Maria and Covid restrictions. Training through the winter in the northeast is never easy but doing so with a like-minded group sharing the same goal is worth the sacrifice for this crew!
