Happy birthday to our beautiful, passionate leader, Jennifer Muller. Thank you for your countless contributions to our lives and to the international dance community. We miss you!
A quote from Jennifer as we remember her creative spirit today:
"The descriptive value most often assigned to the arts is the phrase ‘quality of life.’ For me, this is a sad understatement of the power and importance of the arts to the very fabric of our lives and potential as human beings. Replace the word quality with the word essence and we are closer to the truth. In a world that increasingly emphasizes information as the be all and end all and rational thought as the supreme accomplishment, the arts offer a fundamental alternative. They are the portal – the path to uncover and communicate our feelings and awareness of the world. Creative spirit and creative thinking are essential to our ability to invent, to evolve and to express. They are a testament to our inherent ability to imagine, our needful desire to lend form to mystery, to source impulse and instinct, to access the unknown and unknowable that cannot be expressed or understood with the analytical mind. Contributing to a sense of self-worth that is not dependent on material possessions, the arts expand our capacity to live full lives with a heightened awareness of the world around us. Between the polarity of creation and destruction – the beginning and the end that brackets all human existence – the arts are the epitome of the creative spirit. As the reflective soul of our society, they lead toward resolving conflict in the world by the depth of their perception of the human condition." -Jennifer Muller, 2005, Juilliard Magazine

Jennifer would like you all -the beloved past dancers, scholarship students, and patrons of this company- to be the first to know that JMTW is moving locations to Jersey City.
We will be going live on Instagram tomorrow at 3pm EST with a champagne toast, celebrating 45+ years of brilliant creations, collaborations, and lifelong friendships that have been born out of our Chelsea studio.
It is a bittersweet moment for us, saying goodbye to our beloved studio that has been our home for over 45 years!!, but we look forward to new beginnings at a brand new space with excitement and determination. We will release more details about our new home very soon, so stay tuned!
We hope you can join us virtually from all over the world to celebrate this milestone and our farewell to our Chelsea home.
The company got to come together last night to perform for an intimate 50 person vaccinated audience. This was our first live in person full company show in 18 months. This is just the beginning of more performances to come. Thank you to all who joined us!
