The Armory Foundation, a 501(c)(3) New York nonprofit and home to the premier indoor track & field center in America, is committed to serving youth by promoting excellence and fitness through a broad range of athletic, educational and community programs. Built in 1909, the 168th Street Armory in the Washington Heights community of Upper Manhattan has a diverse history with eras as an underutilized military installation and overcrowded homeless shelter. Now, following an intensive 1993 facility rehabilitation led by Norbert Sander, Jr. and Michael Frankfurt, Esq., it serves as a vital resource for the children and people of New York. The Foundation's primary emphasis is reaching and motivating the youth of all five boroughs by offering them competitive track and field activities and broadening their horizons with computer classes, college preparation programs and a variety of cultural and school-coordinated educational activities. The Armory Foundation promotes excellence, fitness and community in its hosting of more than 100 track events each year, maintaining the National Track and Field Hall of Fame, operating the largest after-school activity center in New York and offering a variety of community support programs in its world class facility.

Josette and Robby Andrews are BACK for Armory Camp🏕️!

Josette was a finalist in the women’s 5k at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where she placed sixth 🌍. Just this month, she dropped a blistering 4:16 🔥to take second at the 5th Avenue Mile, right here in New York City 🏙️! Josette has been a Millrose mainstay over the years, most recently finished 2nd in the 3000m at the 117th Millrose Games 🏟️. She’s also a New Jersey T&F legend, winning four state titles in her prep career. She will bring her experience and tips to teach the next generation of distance runners 📚.

The 2026 U.S. Outdoor Triple Jump Champion and Olympian is BACK! 🤩 One of The Armory’s own, Salif Mane, is returning to the Armory Camp🏕️!

After claiming the 2026 U.S. Outdoor Championship title in the triple jump this past summer and representing Team USA🇺🇸 at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Salif is coming back to where it all started. A 2019 graduate of The Armory College Prep program, Salif will lead the long & triple jump section of Armory Camp, sharing the knowledge and experience that has taken him to the world stage.

From dashes to shot put to long jump, kids can explore a variety of age-appropriate activities in a world-class indoor track and field facility. Whether it’s their first time or they’ve experienced track and field before, this event is a great way to share the excitement of the sport with young runners in a supportive, high-energy environment. Check back in for the event brochure which will include more details on special entertainment and activities.

Time to go to school on your Throws 💪 After success in the shot put, and then winning an NCAA national championship in weight throw, Annette Echikunwoke bagged a 2024 Olympic Silver Medal 🥈🇺🇸 and most recently became the 2026 U.S. Hammer Throw Champion. Now, Annette is coming to The Armory Camp🏕️ to be your throws coach🔥

Before stepping into the circle this season, the Ohio native had already made history. Annettee was the University of Cincinnati's first NCAA track & field champion🥇. And, she remains 5th all time in NCAA history with a performance of 24.78m and tied for 13th all time in the world. She remains the Cincinnati's program shot put record holder at 16.79m.

A 2x Olympic Champion, 4x Olympic Medalist, 4x World Champion and 4x NCAA Champion, this decorated sprinter is bringing his world-class experience back to The Armory to work with the next generation of sprinters🔥.

A familiar face at The Armory, Norwood has competed at the Millrose Games multiple times, including a victory in the 500m at the 110th Millrose Games (1:00.11) and a runner-up finish in the 400m at the 114th Millrose Games.

Cordell Tinch is BACK! 🔥

The 2026 U.S. Champion and 2025 World Champion is returning to The Armory Camp🏕️ on November 15🗓️!

This summer, Cordell captured his first U.S. Championship title in the 110m hurdles at Icahn Stadium🥇. Today, The Armory Foundation honors the life of our beloved founder, Dr. Norbert W. Sander Jr, on what would have been his 84th birthday. It was Dr. Sander's extraordinary vision that brought The Armory from a homeless shelter into the destination for track & field athletes as well as a hub for athletics and education for the entire community. His legacy lives on through every athlete who steps into The Armory.
