❄️ Throwback to 2016 — Central Park Classic 🏒
When winter meant outdoor hockey in the heart of NYC.
This was the Central Park Classic, powered by our friends at CANY () — skates carving, breath visible, sticks battling, and the city skyline as the backdrop. Pure hockey magic.
The annual tournament paused in 2020… but the question keeps coming up:
Should it come back? 👀
We’ve been thinking a lot about what made this special 👉🏽 community, culture, cold air, and that unmistakable Canadian-meets-NYC energy. Between HockeyXP, the CANY Foundation, and a new generation of players hungry for authentic experiences… maybe the ice isn’t as far away as it seems.
If this dropped again tomorrow, who’s lacing up?

Before was even an idea, our founder Ian Peters was just one of three guys walking into a KFC after a street hockey game — filming this national spot for KFC 🍗
Fast forward to today: the NHL season’s underway, HockeyXP events are ramping up, and that same passion for the game — from the street to the rink — still drives everything we do.
Here’s to new seasons, old memories, and the smell of fresh ice.

Here we are outside the EVEN Hotel – Times Square South, one of our first major supporters in NYC 🏙️. Attendees traveled in from Toronto, Windsor, Atlanta, and even across Europe, calling this spot home base during their short stay in the city.
In this moment, everyone’s geared up and waiting for the coach bus that would take us out to the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island for an unforgettable HockeyXP experience 🏒🚌🔥.
From hotel lobbies to NHL arenas, these memories remind us why we built HockeyXP – bringing hockey people together from everywhere to share the game we love. 💙
