Our last Sunset Joyride with to Roosevelt Island started from Chelsea, and though midtown traffic put a wrinkle in getting to the lighthouse in time for sunset, we made a full circle to see the ruins of the small pox memorial hospital at night.

Did you have a favorite sunset joyride from this year? Do you have suggestions for good sunset destinations to navigate to next year? Put them in the comments 📝

The best part of waking up for Rise and Shine in Prospect Park Laps with at 7 in the morning is that it’s the coolest time of the day during this week’s return to sweltering temps!

Today’s riding duo were introduced to the benefits of drafting and rotating pace line and quickly caught on to these important group riding skills for our intermediate riders.

For inquiring minds:
15.5 mph average pace

Powered by key lime pie, we pedaled with purpose to catch the sunset views from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. ‘s carefully crafted route then squeezed a bit more sightseeing in as the sun set behind the Manhattan skyline.

Today’s Rise and Shine riders brought the early bird game with ride leader , starting with:

-a warm up lap
-2 rotating pace line laps (as seen in pictures 2-3), working on smooth movements and regrouping at the top of the hill each time
-finishing with a cool down lap

Average speed : 17.1mph

Next Wednesday 8/16 join Caro for her newest option - intermediate pace laps (14-16mph)! See link below to register.

After leading several weeks of beginner-intermediate laps this season, Caro’s seen great progress amongst our participants and this was proposed as a way to bridge the gap between our beg-int and int-adv pace offerings and challenge folks in a welcoming atmosphere 🙂
