The Dog on the Porch

A man walked past an old farmhouse and saw a dog lying on the porch, whimpering softly.
Curious, he asked the farmer rocking in his chair, “Why’s your dog whining?”

The farmer replied, “He’s lying on a nail.”

The man blinked. “Why doesn’t he move?”

The farmer shrugged. “Hurts just enough to complain, not enough to get up.”



Some of us are that dog - uncomfortable, stuck, frustrated - but still lying there. Waiting for the pain to get worse before we make a change.

Grab your coffee ☕️ …and let’s talk about DEBT…

No, no…I’m not judging, many of us have it ( many of us is “me” )…and at times, it can feel overwhelming…

So what can we do about it?

Keep your goal 🎯 front and center, develop a strategy to pay down/payoff, and execute.

You’re probably asking , thinking “what strategy?

So glad you asked 😎

Two of my favorites, that I personally use are:

• Snowball Method: Pay off the smallest balance first.
• Avalanche Method: Pay off the highest interest rate first.

Not all debt is “bad” and I will never tell you to be 100% debt. The key 🔑 is to know what you owe, and not over extend yourself. Debt can be a tool, but only if you control it 😎

Tip 👉: Focus on one debt at a time for faster results! 🚀

Needs vs. Wants
Do you know the difference between needs and wants? 🤔
Before making a purchase, ask:
Is this essential (need)?
Can it wait or is it extra (want)?
Notice I didn't ask about price or tell you to not buy the coffee...a cheap $10 fast casual shirt or a $40 quality shirt, (we'll talk about that in another conversation!). Assessing your expenditure isn't about denial or implementing austerity measures. When you understand the "why" of your spending you can move toward your financial goals.
Small shifts in how you think about spending can keep your eye on the prize!
