Jeff Grosso began skateboarding at 5 and entered his first contest at 12. Despite a Los Angeles Times error claiming he turned pro at that age, Grosso was sponsored by Vans at 14, a partnership that lasted until his death in 2020, including his popular YouTube show, "Love Letters to Skateboarding." At 16, he switched from Variflex to Santa Cruz skateboards, skating alongside figures like Neil Blender and Lance Mountain. A prominent vert skater in the '80s, he appeared in classic videos like Powell Peralta’s *Future Primitive* and the Santa Cruz video *Streets on Fire*, and was featured on the cover of Transworld Skateboarding in October 1994. His career faced setbacks due to substance abuse, but after getting sober in 2005, he returned to professional skateboarding.

Me somewhere in the vicinity of 1987. Loved launch ramps and vert. I broke at least one deck per month, I think this one was a Lance Mountain but not sure. Had a collection of over 100 broken decks at one point.
