Hi Family, I need your help! I’m running the New York City Marathon for the first time on November 2nd with Team for Kids. I’ve gotten myself into a bit of a pickle as I only just recently realized the deadline for donations is
THIS Wednesday, October 8th!

TFK is a wonderful organization and I know that with your support we can help continue to fuel their excellent programming for young athletes. Any amount small or large is appreciated and will help reach my goal of $3,000. THANK YOU!

For more than 20 years, Team for Kids has raised over $120 million to support New York Road Runners’ free youth and community programs, including Rising New York Road Runners. These programs have served 2.5 million students in New York City’s five boroughs and across the nation with the aim of encouraging lifelong physical activity. Your support continues to further our vision to build healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running.

If you know , you know he gives 100% of himself wherever he shares his contagious energy. When it comes to our daughter, it’s always 1000% and then some. Bearing witness to their Father/Daughter relationship as it grows and develops is a blessing beyond anything I can put into words. Happy Father’s Day to a man who embodies Fatherhood with every fiber of his being. We love you, Papa Bear! Love, your Gals 💕

THINGS WE DO IN SOBRIETY: Long-Distance Running Edition 🏃‍♀️✨

I loved outdoor running in my 20s (when I was made of rubber) and even ran some races during that time. I had gotten away from running during the height of my teaching years, as there was only so much impact my body could receive. We had the fortune of living in Charleston when the pandemic arrived in 2020, and at that point I began outdoor running again. I had forgotten how much I loved it! ❤️

Since moving back to NYC and especially since becoming , I had mentioned my interest in potentially stepping back into road racing numerous times to my amazing hubby ♥️

Over the summer, he surprised me with a registration to run a 10k, my first official run in…a looong time (decades?!). I was thrilled with my time and achieving 1st place female in my age group! So I thought, “can I do that run twice?” 🤔

I decided… f**k yes I could! So I proudly jumped into my first Half Marathon this past Saturday 10/19 in Prospect Park.

I felt amazing because in sobriety I can:
• build in time to train appropriately
• hydrate and nourish my body to give it maximum support
• regularly sleep really really (REALLY) well 💤
• listen to my body when I need to rest
• LOOK FORWARD TO WAKING UP AT 5am on a race day
• be proud of exactly where I am instead of wishing to be something/somewhere/someone else 🙏🏻

What have you done in sobriety that, let’s be serious, you wouldn’t have done otherwise? 🧐 I started my new page to share these fun stories and encourage our community to recognize the amazing things we can achieve once we start to really heal. Send me your stories and I’ll gladly post!

We’re trained from a young age to believe that things outside of ourselves are key to our happiness. The problem with external consumption is that the thrill eventually subsides. The ‘spark’ of everything new settles down and our soul is still left wanting.

As a mama and a sober woman, I work hard to be in acceptance of this truth every day and face the challenge of explaining it to my five year old daughter, but I know it is the only way to truly feel good - from within.

I am proud and grateful to partner with the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports to exemplify this for my daughter as we spread the message that recreational substance use can be dangerous and deadly. As teen substance use rises and becomes increasingly dangerous, I celebrate the values I am working to pass on to my kiddo as she grows up. .

Dangerous levels of fentanyl and other harmful substances are increasingly causing disastrous consequences for teens and adults nationwide. Most people can’t differentiate between a legitimate pill and a laced one. ?

On the last day of 2022, I took a little morning detour to the coffee shop in LIC which was the first public outing we took after Callia was born. These early days were a roller coaster; hearts overflowing with LOVE and days/nights filled with so many incredible challenges. So much was about to unfold in front of us about which we had no idea. I remember breathing in the fresh air out back and being grateful for the small oasis we had discovered. I was also riddled with fear, insecurity, depression and uncertainty about my new role as mama to this being.

As I step in to this New Year, and enjoy my now four year old beauty full of personality, I am resoundingly reminded that the absolute most amazing parts of my life have never unfolded without their share of challenges. More than ever I have learned the value of staying the course. No matter how scary that voice of depression can be, I continue to hone my tools to move through it, sustain and get to the other side - to where beauty and joy and growth and inspiration continue to fill us up.

My daughter is my greatest teacher. 🙏🏻❤️✨

Wishing you a happy new year full of Gratitude and Abundance which can be felt in this moment, right here and now.

This is a hard one for so many of us. It’s a daily practice. And it’s so worth it. 💜

In early , 90 Days is a miracle milestone moment. I do not believe it is a coincidence that I am here at the convention to celebrate my new freedom and commitment to Mental Wellness!
