Everyone knows Rodri for his incredible ability on the pitch, but there’s another side of him that deserves just as much attention.

Even after becoming a professional footballer, Rodri continued driving a secondhand Opel Corsa he bought from an elderly woman after getting his driver’s licence. Unlike most football stars today, he has chosen to stay completely away from social media.

While establishing himself at Villarreal, he didn’t focus only on football. He also enrolled for a degree in Business Administration at Jaume I University. It took him six years to complete, and he even sat for an oral exam just days after Spain played their opening match at Euro 2020.

Despite playing professional football in La Liga, Rodri continued living in shared student accommodation throughout his studies.

University also played an important role in his personal life, as that’s where he met his long-term partner, Laura, who was studying medicine. He has no tattoos, keeps a remarkably low profile, and has remained grounded even after reaching the very top of world football and winning the Ballon d’Or.

In an era where fame often comes with luxury, social media, and constant attention, Rodri seems to have chosen a very different path.
