Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda’s music transcends genres and speaks directly to the soul. On May 16th, at Carnegie Hall, her family and fellow artists will gather to honor her extraordinary legacy.

Alice was a dear friend and student of Sri Swami Satchidananda, and her music is steeped in the teachings of yoga and devotion. She is the reason we are able to reside in our beautiful building, and we are eternally grateful to her. As part of the Integral Yoga community, we are proud to uplift this beautiful event.

✨ This concert is a sacred celebration—featuring world premieres of her compositions arranged for orchestra, and performances by:
Ravi Coltrane, her son and curator of the program
Flying Lotus, her grandnephew, on turntables
Michelle Coltrane, her daughter, leading the Sai Anantam Devotional Ensemble
Brandee Younger, gracing the stage with Alice’s own harp

📍 May 16 | 8PM | Carnegie Hall

Tick tock, tick tock, it's the ayurvedic clock!

According to the Ayurvedic clock, the day is divided into six four-hour zones—each governed by one of the three doshas.

At 6 p.m., we shift from vata to kapha energy. This slow, heavy quality helps us wind down and prepare for rest. If you tune in, you may begin to notice feelings of fatigue in the body and mind, along with a natural desire for a good night’s sleep.

But if you stay awake past 10 p.m., fiery pitta takes over. During this time (from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.), the body focuses on digesting experiences, emotions, and any remaining food from the day while repairing and renewing itself. This surge in energy can give you a "second wind," making it harder to fall asleep and disrupting a restful night. Have you had this experience?

✨ Try this Ayurvedic Bedtime Routine to help you get to sleep by 10 p.m.

1. Turn off screens (TV, phone, laptop) at least an hour before bed.
2. Unwind mindfully with journaling, restorative yoga, or meditation.
3. Indulge in a foot massage with warm, lavender-scented sesame oil.
4. Sip a soothing elixir: Warm milk infused with spices like cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and a touch of ghee.

By syncing your evening routine with the Ayurvedic clock, you can support deep, restorative sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.
