On my 47th birthday I had to do what any middle aged man must do…try doing something he probably shouldn’t. Been a while but I guess I can. Getting into it was harder then I remember, get out was easy. I just fell.

Cut finished for the year!!! Let’s talk about managing expectations, making funny faces and upcoming goals. Long post warning!
Bet y’all thought I stopped. Nope. Bonus month. Just figured y’all were tired of seeing me shirtless.
Down 62lbs. Hit a hiccup when the weather changed and I stopped being perpetually dehydrated on week 4 but I stuck to the plan and the scale started moving again.
Positives: The biggest bonus is I am back to medically ideal health. Blood pressure nice and low and just did my annual check up and all is in healthy ranges. Being lean makes everything Kungfu, parenting etc easier. And I feel like me again.
Negatives: Mornings are still rough. Really tired. My testosterone took a bit of a hit but still in normal range. A long diet can do that. Also I find it a little hard to come off the diet mentally. Body dysmorphia can be sneaky. But I will trust my plan and not let how I feel change that.
Going forward I am reintroducing 100-200 calories back into my diet and adjusting to gauge my current maintenance calories, sit there for a couple of months and then start putting on a little more muscle for the new year. Lean mini bulk I guess you could call it.
Filmed some stuff and in trying to find the time to edit. My son is up my butt most of the day making it a slow process but it will get done.
As for the funny faces: I screenshot video. The lighting is terrible so I am holding the poses and wiggling around to find a good spot in the light. It’s a pale guy problem.
Anyway! Thanks all for the support and stay tuned.

So proud to have be his Sifu and friend. Check out their album and of course you can see him play with Blue Oyster Cult and the Band Geek podcast/channel. Go check it out!

Week 4 of the cut (pics from Thursday. Been super busy). Let’s talk about consistency. This has been the most important part of my process. Even my weigh ins and photos are all done under the same circumstances every time. Fasted and before working out; this way I get the most accurate picture of my progress.
As for eating, consistency has a lot to do with understanding my maintenance so I can predictably cut weight and counting everything that goes in my face.
Since I am getting lean I decided to run a 500 calorie a day deficit for this cut, 1 pound a week, until Im content where Im at.
This is because the leaner you get the more you feel the side effects of a cut. I was doing 5 pounds in 2 weeks for the other phases.
My workout habits have always been consistent. The way I work out has changed quite a bit though. That will be in a video soon enough.
Had the kids home with me all week so didn’t get a second of quiet so didn’t even get to write this until today. I will get better at responding to comments. Thank you all for helping me keep accountable.

Week 3 of the cut: Let’s talk body dysmorphia.
Let’s be honest. This is one of the dangers of trying to exist somewhere in the fitness world’s current body standards. That’s why almost everyone on the internet is on something and lying about it. They also lie about how it feels to get cut. It’s a lot of pressure.
The process is uncomfortable physically and mentally. I had to go back to maintenance for 2 days and actually felt fat and guilty for eating normally. Even though I still dropped a pound.
So why am I doing it and should you? I’ll be discussing why and how on my upcoming Youtube channel launching by next month. It takes longer to make proper videos than I originally anticipated, hence the slight delay. But things are coming so please stay tuned.
Thanks for all the support.

Week 2 done - lost a pound but was better hydrated this week so…doesn’t look it.
This process of posting pics is hard for me, but trying to get below 10% body fat is miserable so the accountability helps keep me focused. Thanks again for all the support.

Almost done…results of the first week of my final cut of this year. Haven’t been posting much over the last year because being a 46 year old trying to get shredded while taking care of 2 small children has taken most of my concentration. I lost a full 25% of my total mass and even gained a little strength. In addition I’ve been doing a lot of studying, updated my knowledge on modern science of fitness and nutrition.
But now for better or worse I’ll be online a lot. I will be posting my progress to hold myself accountable because the last few pounds are always the hardest. Gonna be launching a new personal Youtube channel within the week about my life and processes. Will share that when it’s time. Thanks for the continuing support and I’ll see you in class. DM for any info!
