One of my biggest takeaways of my 20s was every time I invested in help (whether it was health, fitness, or business), the returns were tenfold.

That’s why I believe so strongly in the power of SheBeast, it’s not a workout class where as soon as you step off the spin bike the value is gone. It’s a course where you learn EVERYTHING there is to know about kettlebell training so you can do it on your own for decades to come.

In 2015 I invested in learning how to be a trainer, not so I could help others, but so I could help myself. And I’m here to help other women do the same.

Don’t wait on motivation to help get you through the winter, join me and learn what building healthy habits looks like as you fall in love with kettlebell workouts.

We start Oct. 17th! Sign-up, book a consultation call & learn more with the link in my bio!

Kettlebell cleans assaulting your wrists?

It’s because you’re wasting their time & energy and they’re mad at you!

You’re making them take the long and tiring stairs when they really want a nice and quick elevator ride up.

Think about it, casting them away from you and wasting all that energy throwing them off your chest is a recipe for revenge on the way back up.

Instead you want to let them fall straight down and then come back up the same way.

The closer the bells stay to you in both directions the less wrist banging you’ll experience.

Want to learn more? We spend 8 weeks drilling the kettlebell clean in the SheBeast program. Enrollment closes in 8 days, DM me for more info!

What’s my favorite kettlebell exercise?

The dead stop swing

Without a doubt this spicy movement is the most revealing, challenging, and rewarding KB exercises

Why?

Starting strength- normal swings rely on momentum. These swings not only require you to control the deceleration of the bel with each rep, but you have to hoist it into the air from a dead stop with every. single. rep.

Control- Speaking of deceleration, you have to control the bell with every rep, figuring out exactly how to slow the bell down every rep. Careful not to collide with my wood floors

Technique Practice- these are one of the best tools for building a strong swing. People often take for granted what a deep hinge you need for a strong swing. The dead stop swing requires you to get DEEP in that hinge every time which helps you keep a deep hinge on continuous swings and ultimately swinging heavier weights with better form

This exercise is important for everyone from beginner to advanced kettlebell athletes and a VERY important part of SheBeast! We start in 10 days, don’t miss this last chance to learn kettlebell skills in 2021!

Mid workout this spicy 🌶 move from .stclair.fitness popped into my head and I had to do it. I’ve worked with quite a few coaches the last year and believe it or not they weren’t all kettlebell coaches 😜

Katie didn’t suggest we do this with kettlebells either, she’s such a badass that she does them with a front racked barbell šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø

I did Katie’s program pretty early on in covid and it was spectacular to not have to think about and just DO my workouts. Right now is the first time in 12 months that I don’t have a coach and I’m not going to lie, I miss it so much!

If you’re also missing out on hands on help and coaching, SheBeast Bells & Bodyweight might be right for you. We’ve had everyone from beginners to coaches thrive in the program. Don’t miss out. The next class starts October 17th.

When people find out I’m a vegetarian and Ness isn’t one of the first things they ask us is ā€œwhat do you eat?!ā€

My favorite reply is ā€œFOOD!ā€ but if I’m feeling less saucy I’ll explain how we eat a lot of vegetarian for shared meals or we’ll have the same non-protein dish and top with our own proteins.

Unfortunately eating out is the most limiting for us. Often times restaurants have a very limited menu for veg options and I’m to the point where I never need to have cauliflower ā€œwingsā€ again.

That’s why when I found I was beyond excited to try it! The menu suited us both and I could eat anything on it. Every single item. AND they had not one, but three kinds of bao buns which might be one of my favorite appetizers ever.

Check out if you want an animal free meal šŸ±

I don’t know about you, but I had zero free time to get in the best shape of my life before my wedding

And as much as I wanted my wedding photos to look the best they possibly could, I think I’ll appreciate it more knowing that I’ve gotten stronger every year after those photos were taken rather than have to say ā€œI’ve never looked that good sinceā€

Let’s normalize being strong, fit and healthy for ourselves and our everyday lives and stop focusing on only taking care of ourselves when it’s for the camera, event or others

It’s up to you to choose your own suffering.

This is a quote from Geeta Iyengar that I’ve shared before. The last few weeks it’s felt especially true.

If you train hard, lift heavy, move quickly, you’ll probably get a little banged up. But on the other hand, if you neglect your body you’ll likely live through periods of tremendous pain.

I’ve grappled a lot with the idea that if you train smart you won’t get hurt. I once believed it, but unfortunately I don’t think it’s true anymore.

Training helps you be strong and powerful in your life. It makes carrying groceries 5 blocks doable, it makes moving & assembling furniture as a single woman a non-issue.

But it also opens you up to a lot more injury that someone who doesn’t touch heavy weights, and that’s just the truth

But strength training has so many benefits that out weigh the occasional sports related injury:

1. Increased muscle mass: self explanatory!
2. Stronger bones: increases bone density and reduces the risk of fractures & breaks later on
3. Joint flexibility: helps joints stay flexible and can reduce the symptoms of arthritis.
4. Weight control:Ā as you gain muscle, your body begins to burn calories more easily, essentially boosting your metabolism
5. Balance:Ā Strengthening exercises can increase flexibility and balance as people age, reducing falls and injuries.

So it’s up to you to pick your own suffering.
