“Continuous Replay” returns for our final stop of our National Tour at American Dance Festival on June 18 & 19!
Catch it for the last time this season alongside “Story/“ (2013) 💚
“Continuous Replay” is a seminal work of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company that began as an accumulation of 45 shapes created by Arnie Zane in 1977. In 1991, three years after Arnie Zane passed away, Bill T. Jones expanded the work into the current version. “Continuous Replay” is a prime example of a work of rigorous form that also depends on the choices and agency of the performers.

"...we wanted to create a company, an environment, reflective of the world we wanted to live in.
By this we meant that people would not be limited by their gender, race or ethnicity, in what they danced, how they danced or with whom they danced" -BTJ

Join us in celebrating the 30th Anniversary of ADF’s Screen Dance Festival with a documentary, “Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters!” 💙
The film will be followed by a Q&A with director, ADF alum, and former member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, Rosalynde LeBlanc, Bill T. Jones, and two NC educators and former members of the company, Andrea E. Woods Valdés, Chair of Duke Dance Program, and Janet Lilly, Professor of Dance at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
“Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters” brings to life the creative process that culminated in choreographer-dancer-director Bill T. Jones’s tour de force ballet “D-Man in the Waters,” one of the most important works of art to come out of the AIDS crisis. In 1989, “D-Man in the Waters” gave physical manifestation to the fear, anger, grief, and hope for salvation that the emerging Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company felt as they were embattled by the AIDS epidemic. As a group of young dancers in the present re-interpret the work, they deepen their understanding of its power—exploring what is at stake in their own personal lives in order to commit and perform it successfully. Through an extraordinary collage of interviews, archival material, and uniquely powerful cinematography, this lyrical documentary uses the story of this iconic dance to illustrate the power of art and the triumph of the human spirit. Winner of a 2024 Peabody Award!

May 18: New York Live Arts & Bill T. Jones present our 2026 Gala ✨
“What might happen if we create enough spaces like New York Live Arts, where people can rise, sing, move, and imagine together? The room begins to belong to itself. A gathering like New York Live Arts’ Annual Gala, however fleeting, becomes something more, a rehearsal for freedom. Sarah Arison, Samira Nasr, and Mickalene Thomas have each helped make spaces like this possible. We are honored to celebrate their vision and leadership,” said Founder and Artistic Director Bill T. Jones.

Tonight is your final chance to catch “Collage Revisited” this season!
In “Collage Revisited,” the full company revisits “The History of Collage,” the last collaboration between Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane before Arnie’s death. The piece recalls the excitement the two artists shared as they set out to reconsider dance spectacle during the 1980s art scene.
Stay after the performance tonight for post-show talk with the Company & Alumna Jenna Riegel!
