Namaste!
Deidra has taught her last East Yoga class, but weβre still open for a few more days. The studio closes after the last class on Friday.
Come join us to say om together one last time, or reach out and tag us to say goodbye...
Tonight was my last class at East Yoga. I had such a great time getting to know the students, teachers and staff. Thank you all for sharing your practice with me. I will still be around teaching near the area. I hope to practice with you all again soon.

After 15 years of bringing yoga to the East Village, we will close our doors on August 10th. We have loved having you all as students, and appreciate everything you have done to build this special community!
"It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that I have decided not to renew the lease for the studio..."
(East owner Katie's full goodbye letter is at www.eastyoga.com.)
We're still around for a few more months, our community spirit alive and well! Please come by often this summer.
Have we got studio-closing SPECIALS for you! (see comment below)
..and more to come, including free classes the last week we are open!
Our social media accounts will remain open, but won't be as active. The daily schedule updates on Twitter will stop as of today, so keep an eye on our MindBody schedule online (via our bio link) for the latest teacher sub and cancellation info.
We'd love it if you would share with us memories of your experience in the East Yoga community...

Hannah Wendel is sitting in as teacher of the Wednesday noon Basics class while Jill Camera is off on her West Coast sojourn for the next month and a half (have a great time!)...

Sigrid Wendel is now teaching at East! An East yogi since 2012, she taught her first East class this month.
Sigrid started practicing yoga when she took her first class at the age of six. Since earning her 200-hour yoga teacher training certification at Kripalu in western Massachusetts this time last year, she has taught yoga in many places, from NYC to a remote island off the coast of Ireland. But she's especially pleased to be bringing her teaching skills to us.
"For the past six years, East Yoga has been such a wonderful part of why I love calling this neighborhood home, and I'm excited to be a part of the East community in a new way as a teacher."
Well, it's equally exciting to have a member of our East family level up to become one of our teachers. (:-) Congrats and welcome to the front of the room!

Turns out that last month's DEEP SOUND DIVE, Rian Bodner's OPEN class with music by Raymond Sicam, was one to be remembered...

"One of the best things about taking a yoga class is being in a group of people with a similar purpose for that hour or so. The energy created is unexplainable. Come see for yourself."

In case National Take A Walk In The Park Day somehow passed you by on Friday (who knew?), tomorrow might not be the best day for catching up on that. βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈπ±
But we have spring and summer ahead (eventually) to visit the amazing 50+ community gardens that surround us in the East Village. They're a good place to go for a little nature and meditation before or after yoga class. Explore them...!
The Spring Awakening Parade through the East Village on April 22nd is a good way to find out about the gardens, as it will pass through many of them. It's organized by LUNGS (Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens); more info at lungsnyc.org.

6BC Botanical Garden (pictured here) is just half a block away from the studio, on the south side of 6th between B and C. Summer hours will begin in a week or so (after the snow has departed): M-F 6 pm to dusk, weekends 12-6 pm, and also whenever a member is in the garden. If you want to work in the garden and get your own key to enter at other times, you must attend one of the member orientations in April or May.
May the spring flowers not be harmed by tomorrow's snow!
