Peridance’s Teen Summer Intensive is a two-week training program for dancers ages 12–17 who want to strengthen their technique, build , and grow as artists. Our experienced faculty creates a supportive environment that encourages to work with focus, clarity, and curiosity.
With a strong emphasis on contemporary forms, the challenges students both technically and creatively. Dancers will train in a range of styles with Peridance’s renowned faculty and have the opportunity to work closely with three innovative NYC .
The program culminates in a fully produced performance at Peridance’s KnJ Theater, giving students the chance to share their work and celebrate their progress.

Peridance welcomes GALLIM Dance Company, teaching Guest Classes at the center throughout May!
GALLIM Dance () is a New York-based company, creates and performs worldwide original work by artistic director, founder, and 2014 Guggenheim Fellow, Andrea Miller (). Founded in 2007, GALLIM quickly captured the attention of fellow artists, presenters, and audiences with its award-winning work, ensemble of dancers, and a fearless physicality grounded by deep humanity and expressed through the madness and joy of the imagination. The company also provides NEA-recognized educational programming to dancers and non-dancers in its home studio in Brooklyn and beyond.
GALLIM Methods is a movement technique training which practices Andrea Miller’s movement philosophy and creative methodology through a guided conversation between the body’s network of systems and the imagination. Through a combination of guided and focused exercises, the class brings nuanced attention to regions of the body, its availability for movement, range, coordination, texture, and in relationship to the rest of the body and its experience within space, time, , and art.

Peter Schabel received his professional training from the Harkness School and the School of American Ballet. He performed with such companies as the Los Angeles Ballet, Bejart Ballet of the XXth Century, and the Boston Repertory Ballet. He began his teaching career directing the school of the Evansville Dance Theatre and has been teaching in New York since 1983. Mr. Schabel has been a guest teacher for Dance Masters of America, Professional Dance Teachers Association, the Dance Teachers Club of Boston, and others. In 1992, he was the first guest teacher and coach brought in for the Broadway production of Cats.
His class is taught with an understanding of , physics, and to guide students to their full movement potential. Peter’s ballet pedagogy has an emphasis placed on expanded classical vocabulary, posture, placement, timing, and concentration.

Meet our choreographers for Peridance’s Teen Summer Intensive!
MOPTOP’s Kim Holmes’ (.holmes) professional career spans over 20 years, and her evolving intrigue in hip-hop, house and contemporary has lead her to tour and work with performers, choreographers and artists such as: Beyoncé, Missy Elliott, Elite Force, Brian “Footwork” Green, Robin Dunn, Opus Dance Theatre and many others.
Mio Ishikawa () has danced with Sidra Bell Dance New York, through which she has led choreographic workshops at NYU and Harvard. As a choreographer, Ishikawa explores the forms found in between human and natural elements, the rituals built within dance and the relationship between and the urban landscape. Her newest piece “forms with dialog” was premiered at The MoMA in Manhattan, NY in November 2025 at Artist Party: Ruth Asawa.
JM Rodriguez () has been working commercially, and in companies around the country. Some of his commercial credits include: Katy Perry, Arcade Fire, The Maria’s, Disney’s Shake It Up, Disney Plus’ Mysterious Benedict Society, Netflix’s Dear White People, Forever 21, CA Lottery, PlayStation, Microsoft and Xbox, and many more. He’s danced in companies such as Mike Tyus & CO., Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company, Owen Cox Dance Group, and Vitacca Ballet.

Mike Esperanza () returns to Peridance!
Born in Manila, Philippines and raised in Southern California, Mike Esperanza has established himself as a sought-after teacher and throughout the nation. With a BFA in graphic design from California State University, Fullerton, Mike’s approach to visual construction has influenced a unique movement orchestration on stage. His works have been commissioned by prestigious college and university dance programs including Chapman University, Loyola Marymount University, UNLV, Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Utah Valley University to name a few. Six choreographic works have made regional gala appearances at the American College Dance Festival with 3 going on to perform at the American College Dance Festival National Gala held at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. In 2005, Mike was awarded the “Dance: Creation for Performance” grant presented by Dance/USA and the Irvine Foundation. With this distinguished award, BARE Dance Company began. BARE has produced numerous show around Southern California including the Lestor Horton Award nominated “Manhattan” - an alternative take on West Side Story. Mike has also been a finalist at the Palm Desert Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 taking second place in 2009 and winning the paid engagement award in 2010. BARE was recently part of the “Innerstate” roster presented by ODC Theater and funded by the Irvine Foundation. The program allowed the company to perform numerous cities in Southern and Northern California.
Class focuses on the understanding of construction and its connection to musical . An environment where students are taught to become present in space and capture the essence of human mobility.
