To my child on National Student Athlete Day:

I see the work you put in the classroom just as much as the effort you put into practice.

I see you learning the time management skills you need now to succeed in school while also pursuing the sport you love ... skills you’ll carry with you long after the game is over.

I see you advocating for yourself when things feel imbalanced, and showing up for your friends when it happens to them.

I see you doing ... a lot.

But more importantly:
I see you becoming more than you probably realize.

I see you putting yourself in a position to grow at school, at practice, at games and at home.

.. learning the satisfaction of hard work paying off
.. and the strength that comes from growing through mistakes.

I see you navigating it all.
And I hope you know I'm here for you through it all.

The good the bad.
The ups the downs.
The joy and the struggle.

I've always got your back.

And just know... you're more amazing than you realize.
