🌕12 years ago I taught my first class in Franklin Square Park in Syracuse, NY to a group of friends and passersby who joined in. 🥰

Twelve years later I am teaching more in the Hudson Valley since moving here, leading 2 teacher trainings, and offering collaborations with others I support wholeheartedly. Wow ❤️

🫶🏽 Hello! If you’re new here: I’m
Dr. Rebecca Alexander, the founder of terraphysicaltherapywellness , a wellness-based, woman-owned-and-operated practice that combines the wisdom of yoga with physical therapy via workshops, class series & client work.

In my undergraduate career I was pre-law, then changed courses shortly after graduation, some work experience/travel, and health experiences. I am drawn to the metaphysical by my nature, and have practiced yoga for two decades, instructed since 2014. I’m passionate about adaptive recreation and worked closely with accessibility partners in the CNY area Fitness Inclusion Network and other groups to bring accessibility to recreation, yoga, and speak widely on this subject.

As a student in my DPT program I was awarded a grant from Kripalu to bring yoga to low income students through a program Yoga for All in Syracuse, NY.

I want people to feel good about themselves, and thus I’m always striving to learn more. I have been a teaching assistant w/ Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute & helped new clinicians w/training. Some of my favorite work was deepening leadership skills/furthering my ability to help/serve others with Michael Sgro Leadership Coaching

There will be more to share on this platform in time, but until then: thank you for being here. thank you for being you. I believe that water seeks its own level, so if what is shared here resonates with you: like, share, and turn on notifications so that we may stay connected.

🌕 clinical care and - or- as I sometimes refer to it, the have similarities… when one refers to adding heat, or cooling down the body, it can elicit symptoms related to the pelvic floor. Even pranayama- breathwork - can impact how our pelvic floor functions. Child’s pose/happy baby/supta badakonasana ≈ relaxing and cooling; prone boat/warrior postures/twisting ≈ heating for pelvic floor

🌕in 2023 I attended a course with Bessel van der Kolk Kripalu ~ our bodies ~ our nervous systems ~ need movement/positive experiences to heal. We can talk therapy ALL we want but that’s not the whole story.

This is a HUGE part of why I’m such an advocate for pelvic floor yoga. Why I lead trainings for yoga teachers and clinicians. Next one is March 2027.

Let’s connect if this resonates. With love, Dr. Rebecca
