🎣 The 23rd Annual Balboa Angling Club YSH Tournament starts this weekend! 🎣
The tournament begins Saturday, May 30th at 12:00 AM and runs through Tuesday, June 30th at 5:00 PM, giving anglers an entire month to pursue Yellowtail, White Sea Bass, and Halibut.
With island fishing already showing signs of heating up, we are looking forward to another outstanding event and some great fish hitting the scales throughout June.
All anglers will be competing for 1st Place trophies in each division, and the angler capturing this year’s Trifecta Award—the heaviest combined weight of one Yellowtail, one White Sea Bass, and one Halibut—will receive a custom rod generously provided by .
The tournament is limited to 100 anglers, so be sure to secure your spot. Entries received after Friday, May 29th at 4:00 PM are welcome but will incur a $10 late entry fee.
Good luck to all participants, fish hard, fish safe, and we look forward to celebrating another great month of fishing with our members and friends.

The Balboa Angling Club is looking for a seasonal Weighmaster to join our team for the summer fishing season!
📍 Part-time: Saturdays & Sundays | 12PM–5PM
📅 June 6th – September 27th
💲 $20.00 per hour
This is a great opportunity to be part of Newport Harbor’s fishing tradition and work alongside an incredible community of anglers.

🚩 First flag for WSB has been taken!
has officially taken the first White Seabass of the season — tipping the scales at an impressive 58 lbs on 50 lb gear which makes it a button fish as well, Congrats!
It was caught on a custom rod that he won in last year’s YSH Tournament! “The perfect Seabass Rod” is what Steve Beck had to say.

The 63rd Annual Lily Call was one for the books!
This was a sold out event of 75 anglers and the competition was strong all weekend. We haven’t seen a leaderboard like this in years, including Spotfin Croaker to 5.35 pounds!!!!! Thank you to everyone who came out and made this event such a success.

This years Lily Call Trophies are 💥💥💥
To mark our centennial year, custom made these trophies in a high-gloss black and gold finish, inspired by the 100th anniversary logo. Each piece features a hand-detailed fish, finished with gold leaf to reflect the legacy and prestige of this tournament.
