A new chapter for SRF…

For the past 15 years, SRF has been much more than a gym. It’s been a place where I’ve had the opportunity to coach surfers of all ages and ability levels, help people become stronger and more confident in and out of the water, and build relationships that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.

Recently, we made the difficult decision to close our original location—but SRF isn’t going anywhere.

Our in-person training has moved to Santo Performance Studio, where I’m continuing to coach clients and help them work toward their performance goals.

Moving forward, we’ll also be putting more energy into the next evolution of SRF: online coaching, surf-specific training programs, and our training app—giving surfers everywhere access to the same approach we’ve developed over the last 15 years.

The new logo represents that next chapter.

A fresh look. A new location. A bigger reach.

Same mission: helping surfers become stronger, move better, and stay ready for whatever the ocean throws at them.

Thank you to everyone who has trained with us, supported us, and been part of the SRF community over the years. We’re excited for what comes next.

These banded pigdogs were extremely tough because of the extrinsic force tugging on me. Give these a try and let us know what you think!!!

Quick clip from our Indo Board photo shoot yesterday. These ball slams were much tougher than I thought they would be.

LAST CHANCE TO SAVE BIG!

Thank you Matt!!! This is why we do what we love and we get to work with amazing surfers all over the world! Matt lives in Canada and has been training with Coach Paul for two years.

“I would NEVER have guessed that I would ever hire an online personal trainer. But my wife suggested I try it and now I will never go without it. I know that Paul’s expert coaching provides me with structure, knowledge and accountability that I would never benefit from working out on my own. The results have been fantastic and I look forward to continuing to train and surf for many years to come. I would NEVER go back to being without a trainer. Thank you Paul.”

Most surfers warm up the wrong way 🌊🤦‍♂️
I see it all the time — people sitting on the sand 🏖️, yanking on their hamstrings or holding a quad stretch for 30 seconds before paddling out.

Here’s the problem ❌: static stretching doesn’t prepare your body to move. It actually slows you down 🐌, decreases muscle activation, and can leave you feeling weaker when it’s time to paddle, pop up, and rotate through turns.

Surfing is dynamic. It’s explosive 💥. It demands strength, control, and range of motion under load. That’s why mobility drills — not static stretches — are the warm-up surfers should be doing ✅.

Mobility gets your joints moving 🦵, your muscles firing 🔥, and your nervous system primed for action ⚙️. In other words: it turns your body on for surfing 🏄.

If you want to paddle stronger 💪, pop up faster ⚡, and stay injury-free 🚫🤕, it’s time to ditch the old “touch your toes and hold it” routine.

👉 I broke down exactly why static stretching fails surfers — and what to do instead — in my latest article.
