Newton Falls Tigers Varsity Basketball Team Meals

A HUGE thank you to The Smithberger family for a $100 donation towards feeding our boys and to the Riehard family for feeding the athletes after the Youngstown East game!! And a very generous community member who has always been a loyal Tiger Basketball fan donated $300 anonymously towards our feed the team program!!! We appreciate the generosity and support shown for our Tigers!!

Let's feed our Tigers!! Attached are the 2 meal schedules for Boys Tiger Basketball for our 2025-26 season. We would love for our Tiger Athletes to feel supported this season like never before. These guys work hard year round to make our village proud of the program and we want to celebrate the players and coaches as much as possible. It would be great if we could throw together a Potluck Dinner for Monday night (tomorrow) for our boys (JV and Varsity after practice) before their big game the following night against Dalton. I can be at the school to set everything up at 3:30 Monday and the dinner will start at 4:15-4:30. If you can't get your items to the school at that time, they could be dropped off at my house anytime today or tomorrow.

Here are a few ideas on items we could use:
*Gatorade/Powerade/Bottled water/drinks for 25-30 people
*Crock pot meals (mac and cheese, pasta, meatballs, soup, dips, etc.)
*Salad or toppings for salad bar
*Fruit tray
*Veggie tray
*Pre-portioned snacks, chips, cookies, etc.
*Desserts (cookies, brownies, cake, etc.)

I will donate plates, napkins, silverware and to-go containers. I will also bring something on the above list that does not get signed up for. I have extra crockpots and chafing dishes if I need to keep items warm, so just let me know and I can bring those.
I am going to tag as many parents as I can in this post but there are many I probably cannot tag. Please feel free to share this with any families or community members that may be willing to help.
We could also use an after game meal for Tuesday night around 8:00-8:30, so if you know anyone that would like to donate towards that, any food or drink items would be appreciated. After our victory on Tuesday, we will start plans for food for the March 1st game.

Thank you to everyone who donated money towards senior gifts for tomorrow night!!! After senior night is over, I will post what donations were received and where the money was spent so that you can see where your donations went. This is the last call for donations, as I will be picking up the final items tomorrow morning, and we obviously don't want any money left over. We were asking each underclassman to donate $10 towards the gifts for the 7 seniors. I can send you my venmo if you didn't get a chance to donate yet. I can't wait to celebrate these guys tomorrow!!

The night at the races is on February 8th, and basketball is in charge of doing a gift card basket. If you could please donate and give donation to Traci Huff no later then February 4th. Thank you!

Senior Night for our 2025 senior boys is less than a month away. In previous years, the kids have collected $5.00 from each underclassman player, but I don't think that will be enough to cover gifts for 7 seniors with so few underclassmen this year. Traditionally the 11th grade players and parents plan the night and decide on what gifts to purchase. If gifts are being ordered online, we probably need to start with this asap. We are planning to ask a local pizza place to provide pizza for after the game. The game is Thursday, February 7th. If anyone has already started planning or had an idea of what to do, please let the group know so people are in the loop and don't duplicate ideas. Thank you all so much and let's let these seniors know how much we appreciate them!!

SNACKS NEEDED!!! We are still collecting items to use to make snack bags for the team after away games. We were able to use the leftover donations from Indiana for the Crestview game and we used the cash left from the $63 pizza discount from Indiana to provide bags for Garfield with drinks coming from Julie Dunlap. This Saturday at Lakeview will be the Stinson Family and the Huff Family will be doing the Brookfield game on February 4th. This leaves 4 away games that still need donations. Standard snacks to put into individual bags and Gatorade/Powerade/sports drinks would be greatly appreciated and then we can put together bags to distribute. Or, you are welcome to pick a game and provide everything needed.
A few helpful notes - we have been trying to include the cheerleaders when possible which means we need 35-40 bags and drinks per game. Cheer adds 12 people to the previous team and coach counts. We do have a gluten free coach, so bonus points for providing something that he can eat so we're not leaving him out while the bus is filled with snacks.
Once again, I can't say thank you enough for your help with the snacks and meals this season. All of our Family Dinner dates have been filled and we only need a sponsor for one more after game meal, so the boys will be fed after every home game for the rest of the season!! We received so many cash donations, we actually refused cash donations from at least four other groups or families, so that money can be used later for other times we are feeding the team. And many others reached out about what was still needed, but we already had an abundance of items, plus enough items to get us through the next couple away games, so we stopped collecting temporarily. We are so grateful for all of the families that stepped up and we hope the boys enjoy their game tomorrow and the meal afterwards.

Welcome back to another season of Boys Tiger Basketball!! Our first opportunity to help feed our Varsity/JV Boys and Coaching Staff quickly approaches as the team heads to Indiana this weekend to play in the famous Hoosier Gymnasium. We will be providing lunch for them after the game on Saturday afternoon. We are putting together lunch bags filled with snacks to give to each person on the bus as well as ordering pizza from a local shop.
Here are the donations so far:
*$50 towards pizza from The McGregor Family
*Protein Bars from The Huff Family
*An assortment of chips, crackers, Cheeze Its, granola bars, cookies, etc. from The Powell Family
We are still looking for more snack food, candy, fruit or side dish type options and drink options like Gatorade, Powerade, water, etc. to put in the bags for approximately 35 bags and also money to cover the pizzas. The bags will be going on the bus with them after lunch so they will also have snacks for the ride home. Any snacks, drink donations, etc. that are left over after the trip will be used for this seasons away game snack bags.
We are putting the bags together on Thursday, so please have any donations to us by Wednesday this week. I am happy to come pick items up as well, just text me to let me know when and where (330)766-0636. We appreciate your help and look forward to a great season of celebrating our Tigers!

Tiger parents: senior night is next Friday night, the junior boys are currently collecting five dollars from every underclassmen player to get them a small gift, Mrs Reynolds is heading this. The junior moms are typically also in charge of a gift and contributing with this, if you are able and willing to help out please contact Traci Huff or Jill Powell. Thank you!

I have an updated dinner schedule to post, but before I do - we are looking for someone to provide some items for the team dinner this Thursday, January 25. We need drinks for approximately 50 people. We also need plates, silverware, and napkins donated. The Huff family is taking care of the main dishes, Stinson's are covering side dishes and Patti Hanzes is making desserts. This is our largest attendance at any dinner as more teams are participating.

Please let me know if you can donate any of the following items -
* 2-3 cases of Gatorade or Powerade
*2 cases of water
*75-100 paper dinner plates
*Plastic Silverware
*Napkins

We need all items by 4:00 on Thursday. I can pick up items if necessary. Thank you!!

Thank you so much to those that have provided a team dinner or after game meal so far this season. Tomorrow, The Powell family will be hosting the team dinner after practice at the school. On Friday, The Champion family is providing an after game meal for our boys!! There are still many open dates to help feed our boys.
