K&M Equestrian Now Hiring – Newton, KS

K&M Equestrian is looking to hire 1-2 dependable team members to join our farm staff immediately.

Available Shifts:

AM & Lunch Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
PM Feeding Shift: 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Job Duties Include:

Morning, lunch, and/or evening feedings
Watering and daily horse care
Minimal stall cleaning
Basic grooming
Monitoring horses for injuries, illness, or changes in behavior
Providing basic first aid care when needed
General barn chores and maintaining a clean, organized facility

Requirements:

Previous horse experience required
Confident handling horses safely and independently
Ability to recognize signs of injury, illness, or lameness
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
Self-starter with strong attention to detail
Able to work independently without constant supervision
Comfortable communicating updates and concerns

This position requires someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities. I do not micromanage, and there will be times when I am away at horse shows and relying on this person to keep me informed about the day-to-day care of the horses and farm.

Additional Opportunities:

Traveling to horse shows
Grooming at competitions
Potential riding opportunities for the right person based on experience and ability

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working around horses, takes pride in doing things correctly, and wants to be part of a small, hands-on program.

You never know what the day will bring. One day we are trail riding, horse show the next day. Trail ride is the best way to get the horse mentally and physically prepared for the show. Great way to get them out of the arena and doing something different. It also gives us a feel what job will fit a horse the best. To make sure we can reach the horses for potential. This way, if you ever lease or buy. You know that the horses have been on trails and don’t have to worry about that.

I’m pretty sure one of babies think her name is “how-did-you-end-up-there?”- but we can do better than that. 🫣

Now it’s time to get creative to give theses babies wonderful names. Before these babies think their names are “you little tard”, “come back”, or “Watch the back end”.
