Have you paid attention to your breathing lately?🧘
According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology “proper breathing while stretching increases circulation, relaxes the body and helps get rid of lactic acid buildup”
Try this five count breath technique to promote relaxation during your next stretch (or anywhere!):
1. Inhale very slowly through your nose for 5 seconds: 1-2-3-4-5.
2. Exhale very slowly through your nose or mouth for 5 seconds: 1-2-3-4-5.
3. Wait for 5 seconds: 1-2-3-4-5.
4. Repeat the process three more times (1 minute total).
5. Notice how you feel. (You should feel calmer)😊

CROSSFIT NEWTOWN🏋️:
- lunge twist: gives a great full body stretch! can hold statically, or swing the arm up and down for mobility
- scorpion: great with low back stretch! make sure to engage core to keep low back protected
- hamstring: can rock back and forth between this one and next one for mobility warmup before workouts. can flex and point toes for added calf stretch
- quad: can rock back and forth between this one and hamstring stretch for mobility warmup before workouts
- low squat with reach: can hold statically or swing arm up and down for mobility. can also push into knees and get hip stretch
- 90/90 hip mobility: rock knees back and forth for a great hip warmup
- wrist and forearm stretch: can rock back and forth for mobility or hold statically
