Nixa Wrestling

Great day of wrestling in Springfield at the MO/USA Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Championships.

The boys wrestled freestyle, and the girls wrestled Greco-Roman. Tomorrow, they switch styles and compete for another state championship!

Nixa had 24 kids step onto the mats today and wrestle, proud of everyone of them for competing!

Big thanks to the coaches who showed up and helped out: Ben Melton, Ozzie Garcia, Gavin DeWitt, Blake Clevenger, Faith Cole, and Eli Zar.

Also, a shoutout to our favorite official, Nixa Coach Kevin Carey!

Nixa Wrestling is excited to have both Brennan Carey and Coach Kevin Carey at the US Open this week in Las Vegas!

Brennan will be competing for Northern Michigan University and will compete in both the U20 and Senior level in Greco-Roman.

His dad, Coach Kevin Carey, will be officiating all week in Las Vegas.

Best of luck to both Careys!

Tonight the Board of Education recognized our Nixa Women’s State Championship.

We thought it was only fitting to celebrate the entire program, from Nixa Youth wrestling, to Junior High, to High School Wrestling!

Nixa had (4) wrestlers compete in the U20 Division of Women's Nationals!

We didn't bring home an All-American this year, but we are bringing back the experience of competing against the very best in the country. Very proud of the effort all 4 ladies gave this week!

Freestyle and Greco-Roman starts on Monday!

This is open to all kids in Southwest Missouri!

Senior State Champion Natalie Edmisson competed today at the 2026 USA Wrestling 16U & Junior Folkstyle National Championship. She has guranteed her self All-American status and will wrestle for a medal tomorrow!

Congrats, Natalie, and keep winning some matches!
