Well, the cat's out of the bag now, so here we go🤣
It's true, I've spent the past two months redesigning the NASA Powerlifting website from the ground up, with emphasis of digging up results, records, lifter information, BIOGRAPHIES across the nearly 40-year history of NASA Powerlifting.
I'm not QUITE finished yet, as I'm still filling in key competitions from the 1990-1996 era which predates laptops and scoresheets, but I have found a treasure trove of physical information that I've been slowly adding into our very own home-grown database of powerlifting history.
RICH PETERS, ABOUT NASA, MEMORIAL/TRIBUTE PAGES
You'll notice a lot of really cool pages, including a full page dedicated to Rich Peters and my personal campaign of getting him into the York Barbell Hall of Fame and the Guiness Book of World Records and anything else you need to know about who Rich Peters is. There's a historical NASA page outlining the nearly 40-year history of the organization as well. We also have a memorial page that talks about some of the key figures of the NASA organization who are no longer with us, like Jim Ayers, Mike Licciardi, Earl Evatt, Jim McDermott, Eddie Payne, Shelby Jones, Bo Casto, David Muns, Eric Termuhlen, Hazel Donahue, Susan Riley and many who have left us who were a huge part of our organization over the years with full biographies about who they were and their contributions to NASA Powerlifting. The About NASA & Rich Peters pages will leave no doubt to anyone reading as to who, what and how long NASA Powerlifting has been a presence in the drug free powerlifting world since its creation in 1990. Everything's there!!
MODERNIZED RULE BOOK & REF EXAM NOW ONLINE
Our referee's exam is now online and ready to go. The rulebook has been completely modernized for 2026 and is fully interactive, clickable, searchable, printable for PDF and binders. Chris Riley oversees this and the entire referee system is now online and ready to go.
NASA MERCH SHOP
We now have a fully functional shop with merchandise, t-shirts, historical meet t-shirts, some fun powerlifting merch, hats, hoodies, etc. The Rich Peters DVD training tape collection is now hooked back online and is available in physical DVD form or purchasing online in a Netflix-style monthly subscription-based platform or a one-time payment with a time limit access to all of the training instructional videos in his collection. That's in the final stages of being hooked up as of now. The certificate system has been completely revamped and hooks up directly to your lifter id / established records. More on that later. If you sign up for the growing NASA Powerlifting monthly subscription, you will ALREADY get the 2008 NASA Pro-Powersports meet footage for free with the membership, as well as other meets in our historical archives included with the membership! This is still coming soon, but will be up very soon!
1990-2026 HISTORICAL RANKINGS & RESULTS
As I said above, I'm working on digging through those pesky pre-internet results little by little, but right now I have the beginnings of meet results from 1990-2026 for an in-house historical database for ANYONE who has ever stepped foot onto a NASA Powerlifting platform! Want the 1992 New Jersey State Meet? Got it. Want the 1994 California State Meet? GOT IT. It's a work in progress getting the pre-internet stuff, but I found historical documents that I'm actually adding into the database!
EVERYBODY HAS A LIFTER'S BIO WITH RESULTS, PR'S & RECORDS
That's right. Every lifter who has ever stepped onto a NASA platform now has their own lifter's bio that shows off their first meet, most recent meet, all of their existing state and national records, their PR's, and every NASA meet they ever competed in since it started in 1990! It's constantly being updated for you OG's out there as stated before, but you newcomers are 100% hooked up! On top of that, you can actually purchase a lifter's bio certificate from your bio, and you will be sent a certificate showing off all of your stats, information and accolades for NASA Powerlifting and we'll send that to you!
COOL PEOPLE SECTION
While EVERYBODY gets their own lifter bio, on the About NASA page, we also feature some really cool folks who have lifted at NASA Powerlifting! People like Loren Anthony, an actor and voice actor for the Red Dead Redemption 2 video game! Being an avid gamer my entire life, I love this! People like Kristy Sells, who has been involved and runs her own independent wrestling company in the Tennessee region and has trained and wrestled with some of the most popular women's wrestlers in history! Bill Danenheur, who wrestled as The Equalizer and Evad Sullivan and wrestled with pro wrestling legends like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Diamond Dallas Page and others! CT Fletcher and Samson Fletcher, whose father-son legacy is intertwined with NASA Powerlifting with me and my own dad over the years!
REGISTRATION OVERHAUL
Now when you sign up for a future NASA Powerlifting meet, you either fill in your name, personalized lifter id and the website will automatically track/find you. If not, it will narrow down the divisions that you qualify for (50+ year old can't enter into Teen, JR, High School, etc) so it's less confusing for all of these crazy divisions for newcomers. It will automatically see if your membership is current or not. Also, when you choose a division for the upcoming meet, it will SHOW YOU the current state and/or national records for that weight class and division you are entering into! Now that's sick.
FIRST TIME LIFTER PAGE
We have a dedicated page/pipeline for anyone who's wanting to try out NASA Powerlifting for the first time with a new lifter page that outlines everything and explains everything they need to know about competing and what they need to know or do to get ready and register!
MEET TOOLS
Our meet tools page is really cool! It has copies of our regular power bar and curlbar kilo loading charts but also has a fully interactive loading lbs/kgs conversion PLUS visually shows the NASA Powerlifting specific color/plates on a bar when you type in any kind of lift you want, showing you the actual loads on the bar. We also have a template scoresheet and a lot of other fun stuff.
STATE CHAIR
Our State Chair system has been revamped! Since our state/national record system will now be fully automatic and integrated, there's no longer need for someone to manually insert lifts into a scoresheet and send it to me anymore. SORRY STATE CHAIRPEOPLE! It's all automatic now, but we still have State Chair roles active for local support/liasion contact for our meets across the country. We have A LOT of open State Chair roles right now for different states, with the main emphasis at chair roles being local support for NASA lifters in their state and helping us get established at venues in your state! Want to help NASA get to your state and do a bit more? Consider being a state chair for your state and help us get meets started in your state!
ANTI-DOPING
Our anti-doping policy has been extremely modernized and brought up to date and includes information about TRT, SARMS and more modern juices. This was in desperate need of updating, so we're now caught up to the modern era with all of this now. We've always followed (for the most part) hand-in-hand with IPF when it comes to a majority of our standard rules and anti-doping, it was just more about getting things modernized for 2026 on that page.
LIFTING GALLERY / PHOTO GALLERY
The in-house NASA Powerlifting photo lifting gallery has almost 1000 photos from 1990-2026 of great lifts on the NASA platform for almost 40 years, behind the scenes photos, pictures of staff, athlete of the year, support staff, fun moments, trips to Vegas/Laughlin, etc. So many great and amazing memories over the years and this is constantly being updated as I find more photos.
SEASON RANKINGS & ALL-TIME
Ever wanted to know who's lifted in the MOST NASA meets of all time? Who's lifted in the most states in one year for NASA Powerlifting? We have that. Want to know what the top ten best lifters were in 1990 with today's modernized coefficient system? You can find this on the Lifters & Rankings page! I've modernized today's current coefficient system going back to the very beginning, giving a ranking system for every single year of NASA's history! If you want to find yourself or anybody else you can think of from NASA history, simply type their name into the field and it pulls up their lifter's bio showing off all of their stats being a NASA lifter! Nowhere else online does anyone track the Power Press or Power Sports divisions and rankings, so this is a NASA Powerlifting exclusive system as well! Want to see who had the highest coefficient for Power Sports in 1997? It's there! Sort our rankings system across nearly all 40-years by men, women, high school, masters and every lift available in NASA Powerlifting across our entire database! It's all there as more classic meets get added! Want to see who the top ten ALL-TIME top Powerlifters, Power Sports, Bench Only were of ALL-TIME in NASA? We got that too! It's all there.
BANQUET & ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
I'm also going back and tracking every single banquet and Athlete of the Year since the very beginning in 1990 for all divisions and winners throughout the years! This is also a work in progress as a lot of this pre-date's internet, but for a fun spoiler, I already have the full winner's list from the very first Athlete of the Year banquet in 1990! All of these wins, Hall of Fame, Overall Athlete and divisional accolades are also added to your lifter's bio as well!
LIFTER OF THE DAY
On the home page of the NASA website, you can find a daily LIFTER OF THE DAY which automatically selects one lifter in our 20,000+ lifter database that showcases them to the world! I've already seen a few familiar names get this random honor!
NASA GYM NETWORK
We officially have a gym network page as well, where people who own gyms can sign up to become a part of the NASA affiliate program and get shipped an official NASA Gym banner! We're still on the final stages of getting this all hooked up right now, but it's very close to being finished! Right now, you can already see our great gyms who host our meets throughout the year like OneHealthyBod, Alton's Power Block Gym, TNT Gym, Double Diamond CrossFit, The Gym, etc. plus some dedicated pages to more historical gyms who have been a part of NASA Powerlifting like Des Moines Strength Institute and Thorbecke's Gym! Each gym has their own dedicated page with photographs, historical meets, upcoming meets and are all hooked up to the NASA system! Being an official part of the NASA Gym Network also guarantees you get home page spotlight each day, as the advertisement switches from gym to gym every day right at the top!
THE FUTURE
What does this mean for the future of NASA Powerlifting? It means that my dad's nearly 40-year legacy in the sport of powerlifting is finally a reality and something to be visually seen with documented proof, rather than just ANOTHER STORY BEING TOLD BETWEEN PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE. Now everybody can look things up, have documented backing and see all those names, lifts, numbers, moments that are all on this website! NASA Powerlifting has one of the richest histories and legacies in all of powerlifting in the United States and I can't believe it took this long, but I'm PROUD to be able to display all of this stuff because my dad has busted his ass since 1990 (and before) to give to the sport of powerlifting! And this also gives all of YOU credibility too! Nowhere else online has there ever been a TRUE documentation of NASA Powerlifting meets, histories, results, records, documentation of all of the 20,000+ lifters who have stepped onto that platform until now! I didn't just do this for my dad and his legacy, I did this for ANYONE who has ever stepped onto our platform and give you, your sons and daughters, your grandchildren validity as to what you accomplished on my dad's platform over the years!
I hope you all enjoy this new chapter of NASA Powerlifting, and I don't want to spoil more, but all I'll say is this incredibly rich history doesn't just stop on our website. I haven't even started integrating our social media presence and the new gadgets we're going to have at our actual competitions in the future! Let's just say that the NASA Powerlifting database doesn't just end at www.nasa-sports.com, it could be right in front of your very eyes at our events while the meet is going on! No spoilers, though! :P
FINALLY
And of course, please know that this is still a work in progress. I've been teasing the release for months now because it's literally taken me months to get this far. I'm STILL not done, but because of my dad's post, I felt like I needed to just get out in front of it here and just drop it on everybody! If you have any photos from the past you'd like to contribute to the 1000+ photo gallery, please let me know and I can add them to our database as well!
