This workout was one of Mike's favorites and he'd named it "Body Armor". From here on it will be referred to as "Murph" in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.”

T-Minus 1 week until Memorial Day Murph! We have been focusing on kipping drills and increasing volume on the movements. 0-100 is not the best way to handle “Murph”.
This year, we are showing “Lone Survivor” Sunday evening at 5pm. Everyone is welcome! Feel free to bring food and drinks. If you haven’t seen this movie, it is definitely a MUST SEE and will provide you with motivation to crush Murph on Monday.

*Member Spotlight*
Meet Larry Strott. He’s in his 50’s and has been a member of our gym since 2017. He came with the purpose of improving his quality of life and enhancing his freedom of movement. He used our Crossfit program to do this. With discipline, humility, and consistency he was able to lose 40 pounds and improve his overall strength and conditioning. With this newfound strength and conditioning he was able to trek the Grand Canyon rim to rim.
Our purpose at Gameday Fitness and Crossfit Airo are stories like these. The Open is coming up again, but we look at the Open as a culmination of the discipline of training and the ability to express that training at its highest intensity. It’s not a competition as much as it’s a test of your ability to express your fitness within certain parameters. We will always be a quality versus quantity gym. Larry did the Open with us earlier this year.

Front rack mobility: is not going to be achieved by mashing, smashing, shearing, or stretching your tissues. For any mobility protocol you need to A.) get into the “correct” position B.) apply load. C.) repeat this over and over again until your patterns change. Static Stretching is passive. A squat, sn**ch, press, is active. They don’t work together. A gymnast can hang from a bar and ACTIVELY go into a split. Their flexibility is due to their ability to have tensile strength in full ROM. That type of movement potential takes years to develop.
You can use mobility tools like a lacrosse ball to “relax” your nervous system from creating tension enough to get in a better position, then apply load to change tissue. Strength is the means to move freely in almost every application. Here’s a video by Dr. Quinn Henoch on improving front rack mobility
