May was Mental Health Awareness Month, and recently MEB employees joined our Wellness Director, Sarah Kert, for a Lunch & Learn on a topic that affects all of us: stress.

When people think about mental health, they often think about crisis situations. In reality, stress and resilience show up every day—in our energy, recovery, focus, mood, relationships, productivity, and ability to maintain healthy habits.

One of the key takeaways: resilience isn’t about avoiding stress or handling everything perfectly. It’s about recognizing stress, recovering from it, and continuing to move forward when life gets busy, messy, or overwhelming.

We discussed:

• How stress impacts physical and mental health

• The role of sleep, movement, recovery, and nutrition in building resilience

• How chronic stress affects energy, focus, and performance

• Practical strategies for building realistic, sustainable habits that work in real life—not just ideal conditions

Most importantly, we discussed how to stop waiting for the “perfect time” and start building habits that support health and wellbeing, even during stressful seasons of life.

Your feet are probably still feeling this weekend and here’s why. 👣
Between festivals, farmers markets, beach days, 5Ks, long walks, and extra time standing, your feet, calves, and ankles probably took on more stress than usual this weekend.

This is the same 3-step process we use with many of our clients to help improve mobility, movement quality, and resilience.

The goal isn’t perfect mobility or feeling “fixed” overnight. It’s helping your body move and recover better so you can keep doing the things you enjoy.

How’s everyone handling this sudden jump to 90+ this week? ☀️😅

If you’ve noticed your energy feeling a little lower, your workouts feel heavier, or recovery feels slower than usual - you’re not imagining things.
Simply put, higher temperatures place more stress on the body. We lose fluids and electrolytes faster, internal workload increases, and the body has to work harder to regulate temperature, maintain performance, and recover on top of everything else.

With consistent, gradual exposure, most people become better acclimated to the heat within a couple of weeks. During that adjustment period, it’s normal for workouts, energy, and recovery to feel a little more sluggish than usual - but there are better ways to support the process:
• slow your pace slightly when needed
• avoid peak heat/sun hours when possible
• be more intentional with hydration, electrolytes, + fueling
• wear lightweight/breathable clothing
• reduce intensity or add extra recovery when needed

The goal isn’t to avoid the heat completely - or force your usual pace just to “push through it.” It’s to work with your body while it adapts to a new stressor.

Don’t worry - your progress didn’t backtrack overnight just because it hit the 90’s!
