Curious about the MURPH Challenge we held over Memorial Day weekend? In case you’re unfamiliar, “Murph” is a classic CrossFit workout known as a Hero WOD. Hero WODs are created by CrossFit to honor the men and women who have fallen in the line of duty. This particular workout honors Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 28th, 2005.
The "Murph" workout consists of:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-Ups
200 Push-Ups
300 Air Squats
1 mile Run
*All performed while wearing a 20 lb Vest or Body Armor (optional)
This year, our Murph event saw 18 dedicated participants come together to tackle this challenging workout. The sense of camaraderie and mutual support was truly inspiring. We sweated, pushed through the pain, and cheered each other on, forming bonds that go beyond the gym.
A special shout out to Dana Adkins for bringing some of his military friends, whose presence added a meaningful connection to the workout's purpose. Their stories and dedication reminded us why we do this. Another notable mention goes to Bob Burnett, our oldest contender, whose determination and spirit were a testament to the enduring power of grit and perseverance.
The event was not only a physical challenge but also a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our service members. The shared experience has motivated us to make this an annual event, with the hope of turning it into a fundraiser next year. We look forward to coming together again, honoring our heroes, and supporting a worthy cause.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event memorable. Let's continue to honor the fallen and inspire each other to reach new heights. See you all next year!
