Join us this evening as we welcome Deb Benish, a Norfolk women's golf legend. Deb will tell stories about her rise to golf-fame in Nebraska, her time spent at Norfolk Country Club, and her later years at Northeast Community College and UNL.

The party starts at 4pm with a social hour, Deb will begin speaking around 4:30. We welcome everyone to stay and enjoy a tasty dinner special from Chef!

⛳️ Join us for an enlightening evening with Deb Benish, a Norfolk native and women's golf legend. Long before women’s athletics had the opportunities they do today, Deb Benish was helping create them.

A native of Norfolk, Nebraska, Deb was a talented young golfer who simply wanted the same opportunity to compete that was available to her male classmates. In 1972, during her senior year at Norfolk High School, there was no girls golf team. When Deb asked to try out for the boys team, she was denied under an NSAA rule that prohibited girls and boys from competing on the same team or against one another.

Instead of accepting that answer, Deb and her family became part of a fight that would reach federal court. She didn’t wait for women’s athletics to catch up to her, she helped the movement swing forward.

Listen to Norfolk's very own trailblazer while you munch on appetizers at the Norfolk Country Club. This event is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC thanks to Pinnacle Bank of Schuyler.

$35/person gets you your Mahjong card, appetizers, and the lesson from Beth.
