LARCHMONT crew today! Had some of my lifetime neighborhood friends on the boat today. It was a great day to catch up. Brother, Ben, Matt, and Woody hopped on an open date calling for beautiful conditions. Residual swell from yesterday was crazy this morning… left us trying to figure out a game plan. So once things settled down, we cobia fished for a couple hours.

Woody’s first cobia ever topped at 50”. It was a solid way to start the day! Plucked a few more in the mid 40” range in the boat and shifted gears to sheepshead fishing. We boxed 4 and Brother also landed a personal best at 10 lbs for a weighed citation!

The bay is alive… lost a couple big reds while sheeping today and even saw a free swimming tarpon while riding to our next location. Come check it out for yourself!

Few trips back… got our man on the boat to do some early season tag and releasing! Fish have shown up big time and we are ready to go.

Always a pleasure having Shannon and his family on the boat! This trip it was Shannon and Matt in town celebrating Matt’s swearing-in to the USCG 🇺🇸

The biomass didn’t show itself like it did the previous two days, but we made our shots count and put a couple of quality cobia on the deck. To top it off, we finished the day with a beautiful redfish. Great to see that gold hue showing up again!

We were fashionably late, but that’s alright! Lots of life out there!! Hoping for a couple more good days this week! Started slow, picky fish, but once they started biting it was nonstop. Couldn’t put the boat on plane at the end of the day to send it to the barn from seeing packs of fish storm into the bay! TOMORROW is available if you want a last minute day off from work!

Quick four hour trip with the some of the Hero’s of the Sea event coordinators for August! David, Sammer, and Linda were in town to coordinate some logistics for the cobia derby in August, fundraising for the United States Coast Guard. We were able to pluck a few nice tog and a citation sheepshead weighing in a 11.2 lbs! Looks like fish are moving in and so is the warm weather this weekend. It’s been 3 years since Foolproof Fishing and I got to run a trip together and it was a darn good time to be able to catch up. We had a father and son trip today, Mark and Alan on the boat from Beaufort, SC. They’re on the way north to see family and we were their halfway point, and wanted to fish! With the warm, spring like conditions, we played around with the tog in the morning. We caught double digits, lots of shorts, but came out with 4 keepers to send them up north to eat with their relatives.

Boat is ready and so are we. Let the fun begin! Let me know if you’d like to jump on some early fishing.
