Lakewood Dance and Music Center is a recreational program provided by the City of Norfolk's Department of Recreation, Parks, and Open Spaces. The center offers affordable dance and music classes to residents and non-residents of Norfolk, Va. Twice a year the Center puts on a dance recital at the Harrison Opera House and a music recital at the Masonic Temple on Granby St. The Lakewood Advisory Comm

All Creative/Tiny Tot/Youth recital dancers are invited to Optional Bonus Rehearsals Monday, Nov. 18 and Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5:00-6:00pm at Lakewood for some extra recital practice.
Adult Bonus Rehearsals Monday, Nov. 18; Tuesday, Nov. 19 (with ballet warm-up 5-6); and Wednesday, Nov. 21 from 6:00-8:15pm.

Adult Dance Technique Workshop
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 6:00-7:00, 7:00-8:00
August 13-September 5
A four-week dance sampler geared for experienced beginner through intermediate level. Dancers ages 13 and up are welcome to come to any or all classes during the workshop including ballet, tap, modern, jazz, and more. Stay in shape before fall classes or try out a new genre!

STREET JAZZ
Ages 14 & Up ● This sassy form of street jazz utilizes more urban styles of jazz. It pulls from hip-hop, traditional jazz, and vogue. We will work on isolations, pirouette sequences, flexibility, and combinations. If you’re energetic, sassy and love showing your personality, this is for you!

VOGUE: LET’S HAVE A KIKI
Ages 14 & Up ● Let’s have a Kiki is an introduction to Vogue dancing. You will learn the 5 elements of vogue femme and other fundamentals of Ballroom. Along with the fundamentals, we will educate ourselves on various trailblazers and brush up on the history. This class is perfect for someone who wants to express themselves and have fun.
