A grappling based martial art, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu utilizes takedowns and submissions to subdue your opponent.
Easy sweep from spider guard that essentially mirrors the balloon sweep. If your opponent leans too far forward where their center of mass travels over their base of support, the overhead sweep is easy.
Utilizing the double under lapel grips gives us great control over our opponent and provides us with several options to attack from the back.
Shout-out to the 10:00 a.m. Saturday class. Beautiful day to get some early morning training in!
Using the Japanese backpack grips (double under lapel grips) and momentum to force our opponent to open up from the turtle position and take the back.
North-south scenario drill.
Options when in north-south. Usually people swing in to escape and get their guard back. I like to follow up into a chin-strap to threaten the guillotine and mount. From there we keep building on various possibilities. Guillotine fails we go for the arm triangle. If they escape that, we take the back. Never ending attacks and the ability to continuously transition increases our ability to get submissions.
Super simple sweep from dogfight.
Use your opponents momentum against them. As you come up into the dogfight position, if your opponent has a whizzer, trap their inside let and drive into them. Once you feel them push back go with them and pull them all the way over for a sweep.
Guard pass straight into an armbar.
