God bless Officer Fox, his family, friends and colleagues. We will always remember him and this day in 2012.

On the evening of Thursday, September 13, 2012, K9 Officer Brad Fox #178 of the Plymouth Township Police Department was on duty and assisting at the scene of a motor vehicle crash. While at the scene of this accident, another vehicle, not involved, recklessly sped by and nearly struck Officer Fox and his fellow officers.

Officer Fox pursued this vehicle as it continued to recklessly travel through Plymouth Township, forcing other motorists off of the roadway and eventually striking another vehicle. The suspect then exited his vehicle, while it was still moving, and fled on foot. This vehicle would later be determined to be stolen, although this information was not known to Officer Fox at the time.

The suspect fled on foot into an industrial area and along an elevated railroad track. The area was densely overgrown with vegetation that afforded a large area of cover and concealment to the suspect.
Officer Fox, with his K9 partner Nick by his side, continued to pursue the suspect on foot. The suspect had not gone far and had taken up an elevated and concealed position. Armed with a semi-automatic handgun, the suspect ambushed and fired multiple rounds at Officer Fox and K9 Nick. Officer Fox was mortally wounded and Nick was injured from the gun fire as well, but thankfully survived. The weapon used to murder Officer Fox was later determined to have been bought illegally through a “Straw Purchase”.

Assisting Officers located Officer Fox in the difficult terrain in large part because K9 Nick, though wounded, had remained by his side.

Officer Fox was a five year veteran of the Plymouth Township Police Department. He was murdered on the eve of his 35th birthday. Officer Fox and K9 Nick were recent graduates of the Philadelphia Police Canine Academy. They were crossed trained in both patrol duties and explosives detection. They faithfully served the residents of Plymouth Township and Montgomery County. They were also assigned to the Southeast Pennsylvania Regional Terrorism Task Force.

Officer Fox is survived by his wife, their daughter Kadence, who was born that April, and their son, Brad, Jr., who was born in the month of March after his death. Brad is also survived by his mother and his brother. Brad’s loving father passed away in 2021. All of those who knew Brad still mourn every day over the loss of their husband, their father, their son, their brother, their partner and their friend. A mourning that the men and women of the Law Enforcement community within this Commonwealth and around the nation know all too well.

Officer Fox is a true hero who served his country in deed and not in talk. He is a Marine who served two combat tours in Iraq before joining the Plymouth Township Police Department. He was a loving husband, father and son; a loyal friend and a gifted athlete. He had an infectious laugh that is unforgettable. He is unforgettable. He is, and will be, forever missed.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

We remember the lives taken, the families forever changed, and the courage of the men and women who ran toward danger while others were running away.

September 11th is a reminder of the strength, sacrifice, and selflessness of our first responders—and of the responsibility we have to never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Montgomery County Detectives stand with our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, fire, EMS, and the military in honoring the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call.

We will never forget September 11th. 🇺🇸

Our hearts and prayers are with Northern York County PD, all the officers who were involved, as well as their families, friends and colleagues. This loss is devastating.

Statement from the Northern York County Regional Police Department

Yesterday was a dark and heartbreaking day for the Northern York County Regional Police Department and for all of York County. We are devastated by the loss of three of our officers and continue to pray for the recovery of a fourth who remains hospitalized.

We ask our community to keep these officers, their families, and their colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this time of unimaginable grief.

At this time, our administrative offices are closed. Neighboring police departments, along with the Pennsylvania State Police, are assisting in providing police services to our municipalities to ensure the continued safety of our residents.

Information regarding an official and endorsed donation portal to support the families of our fallen and injured officers will be shared shortly. We encourage the public to await this guidance to ensure contributions go directly to those most in need.

On September 13, 2012 at 5:42pm Police Officer Brad Fox (Badge #178) was shot and killed while involved in a foot pursuit along the Schuylkill River Trail, near the intersection of Conshohocken and Ernest Station Roads.
He and other officers had been investigating an accident when the driver of a vehicle drove around traffic stopped at the scene, prompting the officers to pursue the vehicle. The vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen, struck another car before the driver fled on foot along the trail.
Officer Fox radioed for backup and began searching for the suspect with his canine, Nick. As they walked up a hill adjacent to railroad tracks, the suspect emerged from an ambush position and opened fire, killing Officer Fox and wounding K9 Nick. The subject then fatally shot himself in the chest twice. Investigation determined that the subject was on felony probation at the time, and was also the prime suspect in the disappearance of his fiancee in 1999.
Officer Fox was a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran and had served with the Plymouth Township Police Department for five years. He is survived by his wife Lynsay, his daughter Kadence and his son Brad Jr. Officer Fox was killed on the eve of his 35th birthday.

Our hearts are heavy. Thank you, Sharon, for always being there for all of us in the first responder community. 💙

Our beloved cofounder of the Montgomery County Hero Fund Sharon Cullen passed away peacefully from her battle with cancer today. Her final wish was to be with her Huskey Babies one more time which was granted and she passed in her husbands arms while they listened to their wedding song. Once arrangements are made we will spread the word. Thank you for being part of Sharon’s world and we all have an Angel watching over and taking care of us now.
