Congratulations to BJW ‘08 F Jude Herron on his commitment to the University of Maine 🐳

Herron recently made the jump mid-season, taking his talents from the South Kent School U18's directly to the Quebec League. In his first five games as a member of the QMJHL’s Charlottetown Islanders, Jude has buried two goals and added an assist.

Congrats to Jude and his family on this tremendous milestone in his hockey journey. Coach Barr is getting himself a heck of a hockey player and an exceptional young man and leader.

After 3 days of action at the USA Hockey Girls Tier I National Tournament down in Florida, we weren’t surprised to find some familiar faces atop the 16U & 19U scoring leaderboards.

In the 16U Division, BLW ‘08 D Maggie Averill is tied with her sister, BLW ‘07 F Caroline Averill, with 6pts each. Caroline has tallied 5G 1A 6P, and Maggie has buried 4 goals of her own, adding 2 assists. The Averill sisters are rising underclassmen at a Phillips Andover Academy, and will have their choice of school when the time comes to make those decisions.

In the 19U Division, lifelong BLW ‘06 F Alanna Devlin is in sole possession of the point lead with 7 total through 3 games. Fun fact, Alanna was actually the first player ever to wear a Lady Whalers uniform, dating back to the inaugural U10 tournament that the 05’s & 06’s played in 9 (!!) years ago this week 😳 Alanna heads to The Heights of Boston College this Fall, where she’ll be expected to step right in and contribute as a true freshman.

All three girls were named to the United States Under-18 National Team that took home a Gold Medal in Switzerland this past January.

As the USA Hockey National Championship Playoffs begin today at the Tier I 14U, 16U & 19U levels, the Lady Whalers would like to wish all of our athletes the best of luck & remind you to leave it all out there 🐳🐳

Congratulations to Boston Junior Whalers 2005-born forward, Charlie Cerrato, on his commitment to Penn State University for the Fall of 2024 🐳🐳

Cerrato is a native of Fallston, Maryland, and played the past two seasons as a member of the United States Under-17 & Under-18 National Development Teams out of Ann Arbor, MI. Charlie is currently lighting up the USHL for the Youngstown Phantoms, helping pace them to a playoff run.

Charlie is also a highly regarded prospect listed on the NHL Central Scouting Report for the 2024 NHL Draft this coming June. Read more about Charlie's journey from suburban Maryland, to wearing the red, white, and blue, and beyond below ⬇️⬇️
