Long after the championship was decided, despite the cold and fatigue of a long weekend on the court, Summerville and Waccamaw faced off in a late consolation match. The heart and passion for sport that these young men displayed was absolutely exceptional as was the devotion of their coaches. We awarded them with a copy of “John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success” because they embodied the cornerstones of hard work & enthusiasm so well. It was wonderful to see and to be a part of. Congratulations to you all. 💪❤️

Wow, what a weekend for the Inaugural First Serve High School Boys Tournament!
We hosted 8 varsity teams (Academic Magnet, Berkeley, Bishop England, Fort Dorchester, Philip Simmons, Summerville, Waccamaw & Wando) and 5 JV teams: Academic Magnet, Bishop England, Lucy Beckham, Summerville & Wando.
Special thanks to Academic Magnet High School for allowing us to use their courts in addition to the the Danny Jones Tennis Courts, and to our many volunteers ❤️

🏆Congratulations to our finalist, Academic Magnet and Champion, Wando!
🏆Our JV Champion, Academic Magnet went 4-0 in their round-robin event.
Sportsmanship, competitiveness and heart was shown by all of the players and was truly inspiring. Thank you for allowing First Serve to be part of it. We hope that everyone has a successful season ahead!👏👏

Teaching our players to “be a light” on & off the court is such important work. There are moments in a competition that can really test a player. 🤯 Opponents might make some really bad choices (cheating, displays of anger, rudeness) during a match. We don’t have to love those actions, but we do need to love & respect that player no matter what💛🕯️

We were blessed with another beautiful day for tennis today! Congratulations to our Finalist, Wando and CHAMPION, Bishop England!! Consolation semis & finals were also played between West Ashley, Summerville and Hanahan. Summerville prevailed in both matches and is our 3rd place team. Win or lose, we hope that it was a fun and productive weekend for everyone. Thank you to the coaches and players for your impeccable sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game! We are honored to be a part of your journey this season.

Day one of the inaugural First Serve Tennis Tournament is in the books, and it was an absolutely beautiful day for tennis! This tournament is our way of showing support to local high school teams. We hosted the ladies tennis teams from Bishop England, Ft. Dorchester, Hanahan, Summerville, Wando, and West Ashley high schools for a fun weekend of competitive match play to kick off their upcoming season. 2 rounds were played today, and we’ll be back for the final rounds tomorrow. Stay turned for the results!
