🚨NORTH CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES 2026 STATEWIDE SMOKE ALARM BLITZ!🚨

The North Chicago Fire Department is proud to join Camp I Am Me, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for the third annual Be Alarmed! Smoke Alarm Installation Statewide Blitz during National Fire Prevention Month (October).

INSTALLATION DATES ARE: October 18–24, 2026

This statewide initiative brings together hundreds of fire departments and fire safety organizations across Illinois with one important mission: educate residents about the dangers of home fires and help ensure homes have properly installed, working smoke alarms.

The North Chicago Fire Department will be working directly with residents to:

✅ Provide FREE smoke alarm installation
✅ Ensure smoke alarms are properly placed
✅ Help residents understand the importance of working smoke alarms

✅ Help protect families and loved ones
✅ Build a stronger, safer North Chicago

It’s a surreal feeling losing someone who meant so much to our program and to so many people. This season—and every season to come—will never be the same.

Coach Bey often pushed people to accomplish things they didn’t believe they were capable of, and this situation is no different. He would want us to keep going, keep pushing, and continue fighting through adversity. Now is the time to honor him by giving back everything he poured into us.

Coach Bey was far more than a coach. He was a tremendous father figure, mentor, husband, and role model. He epitomized selflessness, pouring his heart, time, and wisdom into every athlete who crossed his path. Coach Bey changed countless lives, and his impact will continue through everyone he guided, inspired, and loved. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on forever.
