El Rayo-X was rockin' good fun, but for me, the essence of David Lindley was his head-down lap steel guitar work with Jackson Browne. I was fortunate enough to see him play several times at McCabe's and somehow I thought I'd be seeing him play again. RIP David Lindley.

GREAT RUNNING W ZANE!

Running together on Fathers Day was a blast, a gift.
⠀
He helped me finish my last leg for Brews Brothers Running Club after I raced 13.1 in the Solstice Run the day before.
⠀
He’s just too fast for me. Although he lost his Taft High senior year track season to the pandemic, his junior-year mile PR was 4:44.
⠀
I used to break 6:00. Years ago.😁
⠀
Nice of Zane to take it easy and run with his old man today.
⠀
He loafed. But he still pulled me to one of my best times on our hilly 10K run to the Mulholland fire road gate.
⠀
Swipe left to see a couple pics of Zane and me running NBB’s Resolution Relays 2020 together as part of “The Strehlo Family.” We took 2nd in the Open Men’s division.

As you can see, Aidan & Ethan were obviously ringers: too tall to be Strehlos, especially w Ethans big hair.

Was that really this year? Seems like forever ago that we could pose together on the podium.
⠀
The last pic is Zane and me running a trail on the trip we took after 9th grade to check out, among other things, UC Santa Cruz. UCSC is where he’s going in the Fall.

Zane’s high school times match up with his pal .udell who wears a “SLUGS” XC jersey and helped UCSC to its highest placing ever at nationals.

But Zane’s talking about maybe running for fun and intramural volleyball instead of XC.
⠀
Here’s to whatever helps keeps us running together for many more Fathers Days.
